Can't decide between whispering canyon cafe or kona or ohana for dinner? I thought I was set on WCC, but now I'm thinking maybe ohana or kona, then watch wishes on the beach while drinking a lapu lapu in a hammock with my love. WCC, then boat-monerale to poly for wishes and a drink, could maybe be an option (can you order the pineapple lapu lapu at a walk-up bar?). Thanks guys! What do you think?

I would not recommend the Kona Cafe, I ate there and did not enjoy it at all. Ohana and Whispering Canyon are both great. It is really hard to choose between the two. But I would probably go with Ohana, especially if I wanted to watch Wishes from the restaurant. However, I have watched Wishes from the restaurant and it was okay, it depends on your table. The first time we saw it from there we had a great view, the next time it wasn't so great. If you can swing it go to both Whispering Canyon and Ohana.

We like 'Ohana & Whispering Canyon.
'Ohana has a great atmosphere, great food, & it is always nice to see Wishes from the beach.
Whispering Canyon also has good food & it is a lot of fun.
We are doing both on our next trip...hard decision!

We do 'Ohana on our arrival night and HIGHLY recommend it!! We did Kona for dinner once .... ONCE ... but Kona for breakfast we really enjoyed. We have WCC on our ADR list for this coming October, so I can't comment on WCC ... yet! LOL As far as the lapu-lapu (good choice, by the way!) you can get one at the Tambu Lounge but to be honest, I've never seen anyone drinking one on the beach. But definately, Ohana is definately a fav!!! Hope this helps and have a GREAT vacation!!

Like them both but a great deal but I really gotta go with 'Ohana. The meal starts with salad, potstickers and veggies as well as coriander wings. A meal in itself. Then comes the meat skewers of pork, shrimp, chicken and beef. Top it off with bananas foster and whew wee you are stuffed. Plus I really like the Polynesian atmosphere.

Very different atmospheres. If you are looking for someplace more quiet and relaxed I would avoid WCC. WCC is alot of fun tough. Don't think you can go wrong eating at any of the places.

O'hanas!!!!

O'hana's, O'hana's, O'hana's!!! Whispering Canyon's food is good ,but it is loud with little atmosphere. Kona has good food too, but it is not a dining "event". O'hana's on the other hand is AMAZING! Mind blowing amounts of the most wonderful grilled meats you have ever eaten! Tropical and cozy atmosphere. And they save the very best until the end...Bread pudding with banana's foster and ice cream. MY MOUTH IS WATERING! We have eaten all of the "world" ,and we always go back to O'hana's!!:sohappy:

My vote is for Kona Cafe. I really dont care for WCC that much at all, but Kona is our favorite! Ohana is great too so take your pick because you will enjoy either one. :)

Two things I've noticed about ohana, the bread has coconut in it. I have a coconut allergy, can they substitute for a regular roll/bread option? Also noticed the desert has bananas, is this the only desert option? Or is there an option of not adding bananas or maybe just having ice cream instead? Otherwise the menu looks yummy!

ohana for sure!!! :sohappy::sohappy::sohappy:
my hubby is also allergic to coconut and yes, he did get a substitute bread and also he is allergic to all nuts and peanuts, and they made him an allergy free dessert as well. just add the allergy info when you do the ADR.
also, you can watch wishes from the beach after dinner, it was awesome :)

'Ohana's food can't be beat, though understand there's quite a bit of it. The downside to 'Ohana is that annoying woman with the ukelele who walks around all night encouraging children to run amok. I often try and book a later seating because I've found she finishes at about 9:30.

WCC is fun, but the food doesn't thrill me. Some people also don't like getting berated or having jokes played on them while they eat. If that makes you uncomfortable or annoyed, you'll hate it there.

I love Ohana & Kona Cafe - two of my favorite places in WDW. Kona is my number one, because I prefer ordering off a menu over family style foods. I also am not a huge eater, and Ohana tends to be too much food for me. But DH pushes for Ohana, so we take turns. Kona's coconut chicken or Pan Asian noodles are both amazing. I love the noodles, bread & dessert at Ohana. I don't think you can go wrong either way. Going there & getting a drink, and watching Wishes after is a tradition for us - I highly recommend it!

As far as allergies go, Disney is really great about accommodating everyone. When you call to make ADR's or make them online, just include your allergy information. Confirm it when you check in to the restaurant as well, and they will work something out for you. When I was pregnant and couldn't eat soft cheeses, and was nauseated by so many things, the chefs were awesome about creating other things for me.

We LOVE Kona and WCC.. hard decision but if you are wanting to watch the fireworks, etc.. I vote Kona.. more variety and wonderful desserts! Also my kids love to order sushi from the sushi bar right by it also.. Ohana is good but for us we like variety..:)

We never miss Kona..haven't been to Ohana but once..

Kona - Forget it. Breakfast is OK, but that's it.

Ohana is my favorite restaurant in Disney, but Whispering Canyon is great too.

I would go to Whispering Canyon for lunch, then go to Ohana for a late dinner.:slurp:

You can definitely get ice cream only for dessert, although the bread pudding dessert is worth the price of the meal in itself. As for the bread, I'm sot sure.

Although I love both of them if I had to choose I would go with Ohana. Request a table for Wishes or watch them on the beach. Besides the Magic Kingdom it's one of the best places for viewing them.

Yes, just let them know ahead of time. Getting regular bread should be no problem. The chef there is extremely accomodating and friendly. One of my friends is a vegetarian, which is fairly straightforward thing, but the chef still came to our table, had a conversation with her, and took notes about what to prepare for her.
