honestly you have to try things for yourself.
I love some of these people are hating.
Everyone has different likes and dislikes, just go into everything with an open mind

That is totally correct on San Angel. Just not any good.. But Sci Fi is ok for a burger but why pay those prices for a burger. If you just want to go in try and see if you can do a mid afternoon walk in for a shake and appetizer. But do not ho[pe that it could be a good sit down meal unless you do not mind paying or using a TS credit there. We paid out of pocket in 2007 for all of us to just have a burger and one had a turkey sandwich and it cost us 96.00. Have you ever paid 96.00 for that at a burger place even such as Fuddruckers, Or Red Robin. Just try and slip in when you don't need an ressie for for a mid day break.

We always have the Deluxe Dinning package so I never think of the prices that you just mentioned. I would be upset too if I were paying out of pocket and paid $96.00 for a few burgers and fries.

You'll get lots of varying opinions:

I loved Ohana for breakfast & had a great experience at Rose and Crown.

I had a bad experience at Coral Reef - food ok, service terrible, atmosphere A+

I have never had a bad experience at Prime Time 50s or 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian!

Think for yourselfer
only 2 places I would avoid at all costs:

1. Hollywood and Vine - The character dining here is a joke. What a disaster.

2. Portobello - Worst, most expensive meal I have ever had anywhere. The food was bad, the prices outrageous, the service average. Just terrible on every level.

Heading for the great escape.
All of the offerings at DHS, especially Brown Derby. Cape May Cafe, like an over priced Ponderossa and just as trough like and finally Tonys, as bird turds can put you off your grub

It sounds like the food at San Angel Inn at Mexico/Epcot and the Sci-Fi at MGM is almost universally despised.

I would not say despised.

San Angel is, well, diappointing. As I said, there are a few gems in the menu, but there are also a lot of let downs. It's not what I would call bad food, just not very inspiring

Sci-Fi is way overpriced for what amounts to a burger. Some people like the novelty of eating a burger in a car. I do not like that seating. You sit as if you are in a car, two behing the other two, Call me crazy, but I like to be able to see and interact with the people I am eating with. Yes there are regular tables in the back, but then what is the who point of the restaruant. I pay outrages prices to eat a burger at a picnic table while I watch the same flim loop over and over again? It is a good theme on paper, but just falls short in execution

Many moons ago, San Angel was on our must do list for every trip. I'm not sure what happened, but the past two times we have gone there, we were extremely disappointed. But my last meal there was about 4 years ago, so I'm thinking of going for lunch my next trip, since it has the best atmosphere of all the restaurants, imo, and we're taking newbies.

I have never had a bad meal at a WDW restaurant. The only thing I didn't really care for was the fish and chips at the Rose & Crown. I know a lot of people love it but I am used to delicious, flaky haddock and found the cod to be rubbery. I noticed a lot of people have listed Sci-Fi on their worst list and my family LOVED it! Taste is such a personal thing - I really wouldn't take anyone's opinion to heart. If something sounds good to you try it!!

i think this is a totally subjective topic. i really can't say i've ever had a "bad" experience anywhere- although, like i said, it's really subjective.

for example, my wife and i love crystal palace for breakfast before the park opens. but we understand what it is- characters, an overpriced breakfast buffet, great location, average service (typically), and a bunch of fun!

just realize what you're getting into. i know i've enjoyed a few spots just because they were new to me too- lol!

all in all here are my so-so spots. in other words, i enjoyed them, but i wasn't blown away (and certainly price plays into that for most). i've enjoyed them all, but there are other places i'd rather go to instead. an i appreciate them for what they are.

crystal palace- see above
tony's town square- food was ok, the entrance stinks
liberty tree tavern- loved the food! but pricey for the value
hoopdie doo- great entertainment! but food is average
wispering canyon- great for kids, but again, average food
the living seas- amazing theaming, but the food was average
alfredo's- maybe it was just me, but the food was only ok
tres chefs de france- again, well theamed but average food
sci-fi- might be at the bottom for me, service was iffy, so was the food

basically, any buffet is what you would expect. and you def pay for the characters- lol. but even when i say average, that's usually average for disney- which is pretty good!

enjoy whereever you decide! really take it in- you're in wdw!

I think it could be said that every Disney eating establishment should be tried at least once, because each comes with such a different feel (in terms of TS). Though I am sure some would disagree, I think there is something pretty cool at each place.

The ONLY negative dining experience I have had at the parks was at the Coral Reef...but even in that, if you are sitting next to the tanks, the less than stellar food could be salvaged by the ambiance. That is just the one place that I would not go back to, although I am very glad I did experience it once!

We avoid:

Mama Melrose - Horrible food was so bad they gave us our money back and we got dinner elsewhere.

Flying Fish - We read so many good reviews. Our food was bland, and so not worth the price. The atmosphere was not that special.

We love:

O'hanas - the sticky wings are fantastic, and that bread pudding dessert is something I've never found as good anywhere else.

Planet Hollywood - not for the food, but for the atmoshpere

50's Primetime - food is decent, but we just enjoy the atmosphere so much!

As has been metioned many times, every place has a different opinion, experience, and expectation.
And try to not let these differences convince you not to try something because of others experiences. Your experience will be complete different than the person sitting next to you. Just how life is.
