Which restaurant to choose?

On our next trip, we're hopefully going to go to a disney restaurant as we've never been to one before (except the cafes and stuff like that) and we don't know which one to choose.

There will be three of us

My mom (46) (shes a vegetarian)
My dad (48) (he'll eat anything...seriously:lookaroun)
Me (15)

Is there any specific restaurants what stand out to any of you which you would recommend?

I really like Boma in the AKL. Its a buffet so there should be something for every one. They rotate thru 3 menus, but each one has a very good mix of vegetarian foods (soups, salads and main courses), meats and wonderful desserts.

Ive seen some photos of Boma and it looks really nice, is it worth going to?

I would say so. I had to talk my family into going because they are very picky. Everyone loved the place. My kids loved the ribs, the hubby loved the durban chicken and I loved the soups, salads and just about everything else.
Everyone loved the zebra domes (which are a must) and the lodge is beautiful. Afterwards you can wander around and head out to see what animals you can spot. We went on a day we were at the Animal Kingdom and there was EMH there. Took the bus from the park to the lodge, had dinner and then headed back for EMH. It worked out very well for us.

Boma is great....it has a little bit of everything for everyone. Picky eaters all the way up to the ones that will eat any and everything can find something there.

I would also suggest the California Grill. Its a beautiful restaurant with an amazing view.

Liberty Tree Tavern is great....not sure if they have a whole lot for a vegetarian.

There are many great restaurants, but I'm not so sure about vegetarian options at them. I know Marrakesh in Epcot has vegetarian selections, we like to have lunch there. Liberty Tree Tavern is very good for both lunch and dinner - lunch they have a vegetarian noodle bowl with tofu and they do serve salmon, if she eats fish. The dinner there is like Thanksgiving so its heavy on meat though they have a nice salad and veggies.

Ahh yes, the Vegetarian menu, not a whole heck of a lot for us poor saps. But I do recomend Boma in the AKL.

Cape May has a great dinner buffet. Lots of choices both meat and sea food.

I second (or third? fourth?) Boma--especially for vegeterians. Make sure to try the white bean hummus and the soups. Their salmon is so moist and good too, if she eats fish.

Will your Mom eat seafood? I forget now about the differences between vegan and vegetarian. If she will eat seafood then you have a number of options. I would recommend the ones mentioned but I would add Narcoossees or the grand floridian cafe. I would also include the Coral Reef and the Brown Derby. There are so many. You can check menus on this site or at allears.net

The official Disneyworld site mentions vegetarian options only at Boma and Jiko, both at Animal Kingdom Lodge. I've heard, though, that most of the resort Signature restaurants, and maybe some at the parks, will be happy to connect you to one of the chef's at the restaurant to discuss special arrangements. So if you plan to have a nicer (read: more expensive as well) table-service meal, I would definitely take advangate of this option. Signature resort restaurants include Artist Point (WL), Citricos (GF), Il Mulino (Swan), Jiko (already vegetarian friendly - AKL), Narcoossee's (GF), Shula's Steak House (Dolphin), Tod English's bluezoo (Dolphin), and the Yachtsman Steakhouse (YC). Other table service restaurants may also accomodate, but be sure to call a week in advance and ask to speak directly to a chef. We really like Crystal Palace in MK (buffett style TS) and the 50's Primetime in MGM (or I guess now Hollywood Studios). :animwink:

I will be another to recommend Boma. I am a carnivore, but on one visit to Boma, I ate mostly vegetarian fare just to try out some new things and thought most of it was delicious.

As was mentioned, at almost all DW restaurants, if you tell the wait staff that you have a member of your party who is a vegetarian they will do everything they can to accommodate her. I have a relative who is a vegetarian and she was able to a good meal at every restaurant. One of the chefs even came to the table and told her that he likes when customers with special dietary requests come in as it gives him a chance to be creative and cook something that might no tbe on the standard menu.
