Which resort? Looking for a kitchen.

Hey all, we're looking for some advice on where to stay next... We've stayed at POFQ and POP many many times. Now we're thinking of trying to stay at either one of the DVC resorts, or maybe off-site someplace with a kitchen. We tend to stay at WDW for awhile and we just get sick of eating out every meal. We think we'd have a much more enjoyable vacation with mixing in some home-cooked meals. What's the best way to do this? Try for off-site? Try to rent points and stay at DVC (is that safe?), or what?

Thanks!

Not old, just vintage.
I think you could definitely go for a DVC resort. If you have APs sometimes Disney runs discounts on Saratoga Springs Resort rooms. Otherwise you could just rent someones DVC points. There are a few websites out there that connect DVC owners with people looking to rent.

The Family Suites at All Star Music have a small kitchenette. Just a microwave, but maybe you could get creative? :):) Or just enjoy breakfast in the room?

Here's a link to some photos on Allears:

Just scroll down to "Family Suite" and then click on Kitchenette I, Kitchentte II, etc.

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
Definately a villa at a DVC property. Me and my DH love them!!! We are not DVC members but you can still book them through disney like any other room. We have stayed at Kidani Village and Saratoga Sprimgs in 1 bedroom Villas. They have a full kitchen and a washer and dryer which really comes in handy. Also the 1 bedroom villas in Kidani Village and Bay lake tower have E full bathrooms as well. Also the bathroom in the bedroom has seperate shower and tub(whirlpool). YoYou would not regret splurging for one and you can book them with most specials that come out to save on the price as well like we have done.

You should also consider a cabin at Fort Wilderness. They have full kitchens, separate living/dining areas and sleep 6. They are also less expensive than the DVC villas.

We stayed at The Boardwalk Villas, but we are not DVC members. We had a one bedroom, and it came with a beautiful little kitchen! I was surprised, because we had only booked the studio and had a surprise upgrade to the one bedroom. We weren't anticipating having a kitchen, but it was really nice to have it! I highly recommend the resort :)

I love the cabins at FW as well. We have stayed many times and enjoyed each and every trip.

In addition to a full kitchen, complete with dishwasher there is also a grill (and deck) at the cabin site, a full size frig, serving plates, pots, pans, silverware etc...for 6, full size oven and microwave. Add in the maid service daily to clean up the cooking mess and you have all the comforts of home and none of the hassles. The DVC resort do not offer daily maid service, so if that is an issue for you just keep that in mind when making a choice.

IF I was going to cook on vacation then I would at least want someone to clean up daily (besides DH and myself), not that loading and unloading the dishwasher is a hassle but why do if you don't have to?

SMK they do come clean daily if you are not a DVC member. The only do not come daily if you are staying on points. We have stayed as non DVC members and they came everyday like any other resort on property. So yes you will have daily mousekeeping if you are a cash paying guest and you do not rent points from someone at any DVC resort! :). And to the person above thank you about the editing advice but I knew about that but I was using the net on my cell and did not have the option unfortunately so I had to do it the hard way lol.

The DVC resorts are your best option. We are DVC members and have stayed at them all and love them. I will disagree with the above though. I dont get daily maid service staying on points BUT if you are not staying on points thru DVC but rather paying thru WDW you will get daily maid service.

We were just at both of our home resorts BWV and BLT from 12/31 thru 1/9 and BWV is freshly renovated and beautiful and BLT is brand new.

Enjoy

The Wilderness Cabins at FW are great, and I think are now considered a Moderate resort. Any of the DVC resorts are great and I would recommend staying at a Disney resort instead of off-site. The newer DVC properties (Bay Lake Tower & Kidani Village) have an extra bathroom (1BR has 2 bath, 2BR has 3 bath).

We stayed in the Tree House Villas in August (Part of Saratoga) and absolutely loved it. Unique private home with deck, bbq, 3 Bed Room, 2 Bath & large living/dining room. Sleeps 9. You need to take 2 busses to get to parks (1 to main resort, then regular park busses). If you have a car, it works out well.

Have a great time!

I agree for all the votes for the wilderness cabins...we stayed there in december for $169 a night. (plus tax) The kitchens were great b/c they had everything and lots of pantry space. There were grills and your own picnic table on the porch. It was also very easy to take a boat over to the monorail loop resorts and eat there as well. We really enjoyed wilderness lodge's quick service for lunch.

Now the only downside to the cabins is if you have small children and don't rent a golf cart. The internal bus system is great but with small children, you know it's never fun loading a stroller onto the buses. We had a baby so we spent the extra money on a golf cart and LOVED it. Plus it was close enough to Christmas to enjoy riding around the campground and enjoying the sights all decorated!
