Which Moderate Resort

POFQ - no question for us.

Next to the Poly it's my favorite resort at which I've stayed. I love how it's compact and rather quiet. And the theming is wonderful!

I am going to take a part of what I said in another thread....

I love Coronado Springs! I would stay there everytime I go to WDW. It is a beautiful resort! We never had any major bus problems or any problems for that matter. The main pool is awesome. I would recommend staying in 8A Cabanas. We always ask for this area or even a room number and we usually get it or close to it. I can't find the room number right now if I do I will let you know. We like the rooms on the second floor with the double window. This location is close walking distance to the main pool and not a far walk from bus stop 4. It is all the way across from the pepper market (where the food, games, shops, bike rentals etc. are) If you don't want to walk over to it you could take a bus to bus stop 1 (there should be a sign at the bus stop that tells you this or which bus to take. Someone please correct me if I am wrong). Most of the buses start returning guests starting with bus stop number 2. It is really close to EPCOT, MGM, BB & AK. It does take a little bit longer to get to MK, DtD & TL, since it is a little bit futher away, but it doesn't bother us! We are a family of 4 (2 adults in their 50s, an 18 year old and a 21 year old) and we have been staying at this resort since 1999 with the exceptions of 2001 when we took a disney cruise and they had a deal for us to stay at CBR and 2003 & 2005 when we did not go to WDW (see signature).

Check out this link to allears.net to learn more about the CS resort. http://allears.net/acc/faq_cs.htm

I hope this helps!

3 nights? probably POFQ. But that's because I like staying longer and enjoying the amenities of a resort, and with a 3 night stay, I'd forgo that to hit the parks as much as possible. POFQ is very nice, but there seems to be a lot more to do (and just more grounds to enjoy with a walk, bike ride or jog) at PO-R. And I'm curious enough about Coronado that I would want to explore it in a longer stay. And I've never really liked CBR.

PORQ. its the best mod resort by far, nice size, only 1 bus stop (not like CBR/CS) but it does pick up PORS, but POFQ is first pickup and first drop off, MK has its own bus. The resort is just so peacful after a hectic day at the parks and you can't beat the boat to DTD, its great to come home on in the dark and so relaxing. I would stay there again in a flash!

I believe that POFQ is USUALLY the first pick and and first drop off - except when going to DTD. During our stay at POFQ in May every time we would take the bus to/from DTD we were after the POR stops.

I still say stick with POFQ though! ;)

You cant go wrong with riverside fq or csr. They are all pretty relaxed and calm for a short trip. The one plus i put in the CSR column however is the transportation. It was by far the easiest resort to get to the parks with. The buses were running constantly and we never had a delay. When we stayed at Riverside we did have to stand on the bus on a few occasions.

We've stayed in all the moderates and haven't been disappointed in any of them. I may give a slight preference to Coronado Springs because we enjoyed the food court so much and because we had really good luck with the bus service. Also, since we drive down and enter WDW via Western Way, the resort is really easy to find, and the way back home is also very easy.

We were actually torn between POFQ and CS for our last visit. But we remembered when we stayed at CS quite a few years back we weren't very pleased. I can't remember exactly why - so it couldn't have been that bad. Maybe we should give it another try...?

When we plan to go to Downtown Disney during our trip, for shopping, dinner or for Cirque du Soleil, we like to stay at Port Orleans so we can take the boat over to DTD instead of waiting for the bus. The boat ride is always so pleasant, and the bus rides to and from DTD, from any resort, are always long, crowded, and unpleasant.

While my list below does not reflect it (it only reflects trips with my family since I've been married and have had children) I was very pleased with CSR and would echo the comments of the poster above. I would also specifically recommend the Cabanas A area. It is precisely the location we stayed at on our March trip, and we couldn't have been more pleased.

I will add an additional benefit we found with CSR's location. On our previous on-property stays we had availed ourselves of Disney's Transportation. To us it was always an advantage to park the car and not worry about it for a week. However, during our last trip we we're visiting WDW for the first time with our youngest daughter, who was under 1 at the time. She doesn't like to ride in vehicles, and we also wanted to make sure she was able to travel in a car seat, so we drove our vehicle from park to park. To us CSR's location made this a TREMENDOUS benefit! We were parked at each of the four theme parks in less than ten minutes. At other locations we waited for buses for longer than that. With the free parking that comes with staying in a Disney Resort this convenience is one more option to consider.

You won't go wrong regardless of what you choose. Have a great time.

I'd pick Riverside. I like the theme, and the boat service to Downtown Disney is always excellent. I haven't stayed there in many years, does anyone know of they stop at the West Side now?

Port Orleans is a great moderate.

I also would recommend Pop Century, even though it is a value, it has the perks of an moderate resort:

1. Close to parks: Animal Kingdom, minutes from MGM, Epcot. Only Magic is about 10 to 12 min. bus ride.

2. Food Court is centrally located. The food court is in the middle of the resort, and easily accessible from any building. Request building 10, it is very close the the food court.

3. Transportation: Only one stop, and buses run consistently. I had to wait at MGM one night trying to get back to Port Orleans. The line was so long, it took 7 buses and alot of complaining to finally get me back to the resort.

Moderate resorts are little larger rooms, but if you are going to spend most of the time in the parks, then go for a little cheaper room. If you are going to spend time mostly at the resort, then go for the more expensive.
