Which meal should we pay for?

Let me start by saying that we are Disney veterans and have done a fair number of restaurants, but recently we've found ourselves going back to the same ones each trip because we know we like them. This trip we're trying some new ones. On the DP we will be doing...

Yak and Yeti
Trail Ends Buffet(Breakfast)
Tony's Town Square
Le Cellier (Been there many times)

Any imput on the restaurants above is appreciated, but the point of this is to figure out which restaurant we are going to go to that is not on the DP. We're thinking either Portobello's or Narcooses... Feel free to weigh in or give other suggestions.

Well considering that you will be eating the food I think you should probably pay for them all...
No really my suggestion would be to pay for the one that is least expensive, that way your not having to shell out a bunch of cash that you could use for something else.

Both of these are on the plan. Do you have the regular plan or deluxe?? Narcoosse is a signarture and will cost you 2 credits on the plan so I dont think you want to pay for that out of pocket. Le Cellier is also 2 credits unless you plan to go for lunch then is only 1 credit. I guess we need more info to help you better. Which plan and how many nights so we know how many credits you are working with.

Regular dining plan and because Le Cellier is 2 credits that leaves us with none left which is why we will be paying for either of these.. Really I'm looking for imput for which restaurant is better, or any suggestions I haven't already stated.

We have eaten at both. I prefer Narcoose's. The food was great and the fireworks blasting off in the distance as you eat your meal is an added bonus if you plan it just right. Portobello's food was ok. Nothing memorable and on the particular time we went our service was not that great altho that could truthfully happen anywhere depending on who you get.
Hope that helped.

If I understand your question correctly (my apologies if I don't), you're asking which of the restaurants you should pay for out of pocket, since the ones you want to visit outnumber your dining credits.

First, I would firm up the list of where you're going. Second, I would take a look at the menus for each restaurant (paying particular attention to the pricing of the kinds of entrees you like to order). Then, do the math: figure out which restaurants would cost you the most out of pocket, keeping in mind, of course, that a LeCellier dinner or Narcoosee's is going to cost you twice as much in TS credits (meaning that unless the out-of-pocket cost is double that of an alternative TS meal on your list, it's not the best use of your TS credits). Then, use the dining plan credits for all of the most expensive meals, paying only for the cheapest (e.g., Tony's Town Square stands out as a likely candidate) out of pocket. Every single restaurant you've listed is on the dining plan, and you can always ask the CM to charge you out of pocket (meaning that if the expensive restaurants are at the end of your stay, you can save up your credits for them).

We are going to Portobello's for the first time this September so I only have experience at Narcoosee's. We've been many times and loved it, but Narcoosee's last visit was just ok. I usually get the Lobster and the Filet but last visit I decided to be different and had the Crab Crusted Mahi Mahi, which wasn't as good. You can go outside and watch Wishes if you ADR is later. At Yak and Yeti, make sure you get the fried wontons for dessert! One of my favorites!

Some of the same items at Yak and Yeti are available via Counter Service so you could save the Table Service credit somewhere else. We love Yak and Yeti - love the honey chicken! If you do choose to go with a TS at Yak and Yeti, the dessert of fried wontons is out of this world! So yummy!

Le Cellier of course is really yummy! Tony's Town Square is good - as in decent, not overwhelming fantastic. But we had a nice time there.

I have not been to Trail's End before but have always wanted to go.
