Which BOG Dinner Dessert?

It is odd that they have cupcakes and puffs only. Maybe because that is what was served in the movie? If so then that is stupid. Give a variety.

Actually, that's the funny thing...if we're going on the movie and the lyrics- the desserts are pie and pudding en flambé. I watched the vid of the song, and there are 3 desserts shown...a traditional pie, a parfait style presentation of pudding, and a large dish with some purple contents that's set ablaze. So, if anything, I'm kind of bothered that there's no pie or pudding...and definitely bothered that there's nothing en flambé.

To OP...while I'm not a huge fan of the options...when we visited last year, we shunned the puffs and tried all 3 cupcake varieties. While everyone liked their cupcakes...I think the chocolate was the best. While I've never had the passion fruit puff, the mousse it's filled with is the same mousse they use all over WDW. I had one of our privately made cakes filled with the passion fruit mousse and it was extremely tasty. I just didn't like the idea of it in a puff.

The chocolate and strawberry cheesecake cupcakes were both a big hit with my boys. My dh loved the puffs. Sorry I couldn't be more help but they loved all that they tried.:banghead:

I'd enjoy a small cupcake but not a monster-sized one. We have Crumbs bakery here and their big cupcakes are meal-sized. I think they choose cupcake because the ease of serving a nice-looking dessert. You can get them out to the table quickly and looking good. They are popular too, in many places. Me, I'd rather have a little ice cream on a hot piece of pie. I'm a cheap date.

The desserts are very expensive for the very limited range. It is strange that so little effort seems to have gone into the dessert menu.
Agreed. You have this gorgeous (French) restaurant with...cupcakes?! It's a French restaurant! There should have been incredible desserts. I say get nothing and get dessert at the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor or the Confectionary.

Yep it seems to be setup for sheer convenience of service. Churn out a ton of cupcakes, stick them on a trolley and hand them out. Doesn't take much effort like a real dessert. It's a real missed opportunity to sell some $8 desserts.

That's what was mind boggling to me. You could make a bunch of creme brulee pretty quickly too and people would pay $8-10 for it. Instead you make cupcakes and it seems a lot of people just forgo dessert (and I'm sure a lot of people would get dessert at a French restaurant). It's an attitude that makes sense at a counter service (even though I wish they didn't all have the same processed carrot and chocolate cake) but is crazy at BoG. I hope it's not a sign of what is to come for other sit-downs.
