I saw Terrabithia today ( excelent movie. Went way beyond my expectations and was a really good heart warming movie ) and definately no trailer. Its a shame really, because it was the perfect movie to have the trailer go with.

I'm actually pretty sure it will open with Wild Hogs. Wild Hogs is a Touchstone picture and could do well at the box office ( especially if its any good ), so that's a possibility.

It would be great to see it with something like 300, Disney movie or not.

THAT one is going to SMASH the box office - and its early March, like someone else suggested earlier.

Perfect time - similar styles of movies attract simliar audiences.

I'm glad that you think "Teribithia" was great. I eventually do want to see it. It's funny imagineer boy, because on the thread "Bridge to Nowhere?" you seemed less excited because you thought it was going to be a bomb since the movie opened in February. :ROFLOL:

"Wild Hogs" is a Touchstone movie, but it doesn't necessarily fit the whole "Pirates" theme. But, I don't know, maybe it will debut with that film.

True that 300 does have a similar style as Pirates has (the whole action/fantasy adventure theme.)

And the trailer doesn't necessarily have to debut in front of a Disney film. When the first two Star Wars: Episode II trailers came out(technically it was the first and third since the second one was originally only released to those who accessed it through the DVD-ROM link from the Episode I DVD, just to clarify. :)) they trailers were released in front of Harry Potter and Monster's Inc. (two non-20th Century Fox movies) and the teaser trailer from Episode III debuted in front of The Incredibles.

But 300 is excessively violent, and rated "R," and that's not the audience Disney wants to attract, and will limit the amount of kids/families that can view it.

So I think it will be released in early March, and will most likely be in front of either Wild Hogs or Meet the Robinsons. But again, I think there is the chance that the trailer could come out before any of these movies are released.:)

The previews for the movie were very misleading. They made it look like another Narnia movie, when its really not at all like Narnia. Shame on Disney's marketing department. The marketing department needs some serious help right now.:brick:

Who cares what movie it debuts with? I just want it to debut NOW.

I definately agree with the misleading trailer. But part of me kind of liked the fact that the movie had an equal balence of real life and magical-ness. And the other part of me wished that there was a larger part of the movie that concentrated on the magic of the childs imagination in order to create Teribithia. The trailers made it seem like the kids had no idea what they were getting into and it showed all of the magic.

idk. misleading trailers make me non-happiness

That's probably true. I just WANT it to come out with 300, considering I'm sure I'll be there to see that movie on opening night, if possible xDD I'm rediculously excited about it.

A PotC trailer would just make it even better xDDDD

notfabio @ HSX & WOKJ (very trusted "insider") is saying that Disney did NOT attach the trailer to the sneak prints of Wild Hogs (for tomorrow night - Meet the Robinsons was instead). That doesn't necessarily mean the trailer won't come when Wild Hogs is released next Friday, but now it's looking more like Meet the Robinsons (unless for some reason it comes with 300).

1. I was on disneypictures.com earlier and there is absolutely NOTHING there about Pirates. They even have things about Enchanted, Underdog, and National Treasure 2... but nothing for Pirates. I thought that was weird. Anyone agree? Or maybe I missed it... Regardless, here's my thinking...

2. What if Disney announced that they were going to be releasing the Pirates trailer with Meet the Robinsons? I think that many many more people would go see this just to see the Pirates trailer. I mean, I'm pretty sure most people from these boards would attend for that added bonus. Your thoughts?

I have absolutely no interest WHATSOEVER in this 'Meet the Robinsons' because I really don't like animated movies.

But my mother does - and I usually end up seeing them just because I want something to do. And let me tell you, she didn't have to drag me to see Robots just because I knew it was going to be the debute for Star Wars: Episode III.

...so if I knew for CERTAIN that PotC was coming with the Robinsons, I might consider going whenever she asked. But if that news isn't released - I'm avoiding that movie 100%. It's...not my thing.

The shame is, that even if supposedly trailers are released with certain films, it doesn't mean that the theater you go to will show the trailer. I went to see Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and did not see the trailer for Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, nor when I went to see Pirates 2 did I see the Transformers trailer.

The same might happen with Pirates 3.

So I wouldn't go see a movie just to see a trailer, becuase you might not end up seeing it.

But I looked on Apple.com Trailers, and they already have a trailer for Underdog. That's not coming out until like August/September. But still no Pirates trailer. Who knows....

Ja, that's a good point. I would be very disappointed if I didn't see the trailer and I went to the movie anyway...

...as for time, ja, it is very frustrating. I mean, I saw a trailer for Resident Evil 3 with Ghost Rider - and that doesn't come out until late September.

It's a good thought, but Disney has confirmed that there is a trailer...when will this trailer come out, I have no idea!

I think I'm still going to go with the early March rumor.

On a completely unrelated note - I went to see "The Astronaut Farmer" last night, and there was a trailer for a movie called "Firehouse Dog" (20th Century Fox) and I was very bummed to learn that 1. It's a live action dog movie (like "Underdog") and 2. Its plot is very similar to what I read about the animated "American Dog" film. I don't want Disney accused of copying other production companies.

DisneyPictures.com

It is rather odd that there is NOTHING out promoting the film at all! No movie posters, no teasers, trailers, not even a mention of a release date on DisneyPictures.com Even if the movie's official site isn't up, it wouldn't be a bad idea to put something on DisneyPictures.com as they've done for National Treasure 2, or even put something on the Dead Man's Chest site.

The majority of those who saw Dead Man's Chest may not even know there is a third movie coming. I don't personally think that the whole Pirates trilogy has been nearly as publicized as for example the Matrix trilogy was.

Disney may have an ingenious marketing plan up their sleve that none of us are anticipating, but if they stick to a marketing plan they would launch for a typical movie and try to get it in over 2 months, we may see that At World End will not do nearly as well in the box office as Pirates 1 and 2 did. They NEED a strong opening weekend because Fantastic 4: Rise Of Silver Surfer opens just three weeks after. So if the movie doesn't open as strong as the two previous movies, it could have a hard time generating the amount of ticket sales it needs to rise to the top.

Chris Sanders (Lilo and Stitch) has been officially"fired" as director of American Dog. I have also heard rumors that the entire project has been scrapped. Can anyone confirm?

...maybe they'll pull a publicity stunt. That would be exciting.

Those seem to work wonders for movie promotion sometimes.

There have been some promotional posters that have been released. One thing I'm worrying about is if Disney is being cocky and figures people are going to see it even without promotion since the last one was such a big success.

I personally think that Pirates 3 will do amazing in the theaters. However, you're right about getting the message out about the movie. Last summer, with all the promotion about Pirates 2, a friend of mine still didn't know the movie was out (where has he been?). So certainly, that could happen to a lot of people either thinking that the third movie has not been made yet, or it will be released in another three years, the same time span that was between the first two movies. So they do definately need to get the word out.

Plus, May (the month that Pirates 3 is coming out) is a very tough month. Spider-man 3 and Shrek the Third will also be released, so if they don't promote Pirates, people might end up seeing other movies during that time of year.

There have been some promotional posters that have been released. One thing I'm worrying about is if Disney is being cocky and figures people are going to see it even without promotion since the last one was such a big success.

I doubt Disney is getting cocky.

Maybe they want to keep the plot a tight secret until it is the proper time. Who knows....

It has been said on this thread that maybe Disney is trying perfect the special effects so the trailer doesn't look cheap, and it can really attract people to go see the movie.

But, has anyone noticed that since the trailer, or any real promotional hasn't been released, the rumors (which were supposedly confirmed by one of the writers of the Pirates movies) about Disneyland and/or Walt Disney World redoing the Pirates ride again, possibly to add WIll and Elizabeth audio animatronics, to coincide with the opening of the movie have died down as well. Hmm....

I just wonder that with March being so close to may, I wonder if they'll do the typical Teaser and Full Trailers, or just come out with one giant trailer.

I hope we see in the next few weeks....:)
