Currently the entire fog screen has been removed and is getting an entire TLC session to bring it back to 100% functionality give it 2-3 weeks and it should be back to opening day clairty, we hope, if not have a few cocktails, and it looks perfectly clear!

Hoping this is correct since the picture was really horrible as of late.

What an unwhelming, useless "villain." He's half the reason the fourth film was so utterly forgettable. Unless they can come up with an adversary for Jack Sparrow slightly more intimidating than a guy in a powdered wig or a grumpy pirate with a gruff voice (oh yeah, and he can control zombies and magically shrink ships and... what? ...shoot fire out his boat and some other stupid contrivances), they shouldn't even bother making a fifth film, because it's been steadily downhill since the first.

GO AWAY Blackbeard!

I agree, and ironically they based this on a REAL pirate with an unmatched legacy for cruelty...yet he's not that mean or scary in the movie. I mean, I know it's a "family" franchise and I know he used those big flames to kill one guy, but other than that.....booooring!!!

I'm planning a MK visit on January 30. Any chance of a reappearance by then?

Rode it on the 9th, projection was working, but out of sync with the boats. Finished up before we could really see it, and then started again just after we went under.

I noticed this too on my last two days there. It was working when i first arrived but the projection was looking really weak and unimpressive.

In other news I did splash mt. And other then a few audio problems, the ride seems to be in pretty good shape. Better then what it was in August when i was last there.

I rode Splash Mountain on Saturday and I am pleased to report that nearly every effect was working as intended. That includes that hopping Brer Rabbit and the projection wall. The audio for Mr. Bluebird at the end was a little funky, but that was the only issue I noticed on two ride-throughs. Very encouraging to see.

We rode SM about 5 times first week of January and Mr. Bluebird was moving but no vocals at end scene.....otherwise I did not notice anything not working I had seem previously....one thing I noticed on that, Pirates, and another ride...was the prerecorded message for ride delay as usual...but the following of live voice cut in bothered me...the CM sounded tired and bored and since we all know the rides get stalled from time to time....think it best to keep the themed message of the narrator through the experience....

In the first week of January these were the issues that I saw:

  • Several mouths not moving, or not having full movement throughout the ride.
  • Only one of the FSU rodents working
  • After the riverboat, Brer Fox's tail had a significant amount of slack in the Alligator's mouth (this was pointed out to me by a Kevin Yee article)
  • No jumping water over the ride path or along the ride path in the Laughing Place

Some notable things that did seem to be working well
  • Hopping Brer Rabbit
  • The projection of Brer Rabbit being chased by Brer Fox and Brer Bear
  • The AA's in the riverboat scene.
  • Everything but the mouths of most of the other AA's

No mist-fall on the 16th when I road both in the morning and the late evening...you could hear Blackbeard though. TONS of fog in the battle scene...I honestly love that, it makes it a lot creepier. Hat pirate had all of his hats as well!

I said this before, but my ideal way of doing the projection would be to have it right over the tunnel that has the drop. But it directly in front of the cave there and project a jolly roger on it that does the original spiel. They can use an animated logo from the film series even-

Problem is that I don't know how it would work with the lighting and airflow in that area. The current projection effect looks a little out of place.

Of course i'd probably never be satisfied with WDW's version of the ride anyways. Both Disneyland and Paris have far superior versions of the ride, especially DLP which has the absolute best one there is. The ones thing WDW's has over DL's is the queue. But again, Paris has the all around best version, queue AND ride.
