My mother and I are heading down in September for her first visit ever! Does anyone have any great ideas as to what restaurant to take her to? We are on the Dining plan so we are looking at 7 TS meals. Trying to make this a great experience for her so any ideas greatly appreciated!!:sohappy:

If your looking for something very nice the GF restaurants are wonderful, we particularly like the Grand Floridian Cafe, we also enjoy Cape May Cafe and the California Grill will give you the best view ever. Some restaurants can be quite noisey but on our last trip we went to the Morrocan pavillian (the name of the place escapes me at the moment) and it was very quiet and the food was wonderful, they played music throughout and even had a belly dancer. Rose and Crown is another one, gosh I could go on forever about food! Have fun!

What sort of food does she like? I'm not a big seafood fan, so Cape May wouldn't be my choice. But I love the Marrakesh restaurant in Morocco and Jikos at AKL. Others may find them too "foreign" - but most everyone who has given them a try has been pleasantly surprised.

I'm not a fan of buffets, and don't care about meets and greets, so I wouldn't go to any of them. But your mother might love having the variety of choices that they usually offer, and the ability to eat more of something she really enjoys, and skipping something that doesn't appeal to her.

You might also want to think about alternating when you have your big meal of the day - having a large meal late every day can cut into a good night's sleep.

What's Your Tastes?

As always you'll need to know,in this case, your Mothers tastes.Does she like fish?meat?pasta?etc.Once you know that read the reviews of Disney bloggers and you'll get a good idea what's top of the gourmet restaurants.I could give you my favourite but it's best to review the threads.Bon Apetit!

Why don't you go big and eat at the Castle? :sohappy: I think if you are going for the "Disney" experience, she would get a kick out of it!!!!! If you wanted to go for just good food and more of restaurant experience, then Chefs de France has amazing food. I guess it just really depends on what kind of experience you want to have.

FYI - make sure to have a cake made and then surprise her at the restaurant with it. I did that for my DH's bday at Cali Grill and he was so happy!!!

Ohhh I like the castle idea! I celebrated my daughter's 5th birthday there. It would help to know a bit more about your Mom. Does she enjoy "active" dinners, characters, fine dining, etc?
O'Hana's dinner was a wonderful experience that gave a great view of the castle fireworks, yummy food and fun to watch the kids get up and dance. The Sci-Fi is just plain ole fun...a blast to the past with the old black and white films and old timey cars to eat in. This could also just be a cooling off spot for a milkshake or appetizer. We also really liked Tony's. Such nice decor, beautiful indoor fountain and tribute to Lady and the Tramp plus the food is really good.

My mom is a few years younger but some of her favorites are Ohana (dinner), Le Cellier, Yachtsmen Steakhouse, Plaza and her new favorite place is Raglan Road.

Dinner at the Castle and Afternoon Tea at Grand Floridian are excellent ideas. However, if you're going for 7 TS , one credit for each meal, why not mix it up a little? Do a few breakfasts, maybe a lunch at Le Cellier (one TS credit each), and a few dinners? All of the monorail resorts have terrific choices for breakfast, for a late lunch (3ish?) do Le Cellier, and for dinners, Epcot has outstanding choices, depending on your mother's likes and dislikes. Let Mom look over some of the menus, to get ideas for CS as well, that may make her TS choices, a little easier. Have a fabulous time!!! (and make sure Mom wears her "1st Visit" button for extra fun :)

I would try Bistro de Paris if she enjoys that type of food. My husband and I have found this to be one of the best!
Enjoy your trip!

This may sound odd, but I think my mom would enjoy Biergarten. My mom is 85 so we will never know, but I think she would enjoy the whole atmosphere, especially when they play edelweiss on the bells. She is a huge Sound of Music fan.
