Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

I’m still adjusting to being back and all the changes. My first day went well, but the rest of the week was more stressful. I have a lot to get done during the summer, and I’m behind on everything because of all the clinical time I missed last semester. I do enjoy what I do. The part I don’t like is having somebody watching over my shoulder to critique everything I do. That really stresses me out. The techs at my favorite clinical site really do a good job of making students feel more at ease. They really want us to succeed and they go out of there way to make us feel comfortable. Unfortunately, that hospital is still not letting students return. I’m hoping that changes soon. I’m sure I’ll be fine even if we don’t return there this summer. I’ll just have a lot more stress, but it’s definitely worth it.
I'm sure it's an adjustment with new regulations and such. That's so weird that there's such a huge difference between the treatment of students at different hospitals. Are they very critical at this one, then? You'd think they'd want to be helpful, etc....someday the students could be their colleagues. It would be better to make it a comfortable environment for them to be in where they get the best possible experience.

When you do clinicals, are you by yourself, or in a small group? Is everyone pretty much at the same level?

I'm not one to idolize celebrities per-say, minus a few select exceptions. One of those select few, probably top of the small list, celebrates his 55th birthday today.

Anthony Melchiorri, host of shows such as Hotel Impossible, Extreme Hotels, and Five Star Secrets. A true legend in the hospitality/travel industry who has turned around countless hotels for the better over the course of his career, and coached how to run lodging properties correctly. I really admire his devotion to the industry and persistence in making sure things are done right.

If ever you get a chance to stream or watch any of those shows, I highly recommend it. Very informative on the behind-the-scenes of catering to the traveling public.

He's brilliant, and has a "take no prisoners" approach. I've watched quite a few of his shows, and I'm always amazed at his expertise.

I have always been of the opinion that it is much, much easier to be brilliant if you have a script and a research staff and can stop filming as soon as you say something that is, let's say, less then brilliant. We all could seem like Einstein. Just one of the reasons why I just don't ever watch "reality" shows. They are the furthest thing from reality that can be. However, in the past few years reality has been just damned awful, so maybe a little make-believe reality is a useful tool to keep us all sane. It's way to late for me as I am well over the edge. 🤪 🥴😵

Sorry to hear that you're over the edge. :p

There may be some truth to what you're saying above, but I'll respectfully disagree to the extent that you're pushing it. I think that Mr. Melchiorri really is an expert in his field, and probably also hires the brightest staff to work with him on these shows.

It’s now technically May 24th, which means it’s exactly 2 years ago today that Mike, @NYwdwfan and I saw Frozen on Broadway.

And just 10 minutes ago, I read on Twitter that it will not be re-opening at the St. James Theatre after this COVID pandemic is over. 🙁

I was supposed to see that in Minneapolis last weekend. So far the touring show is only postponed and supposedly rescheduling. I hope I get to see it someday.

I have enjoyed watching his Hotel Impossible show from time to time. He really seemed to know his stuff (as far as could tell as someone with no knowledge of how the hospitality biz works) and seems to care about helping people. Sometimes the shows creeped me out a little with how some of the hotels were but that made me appreciate the hotels that I stayed at that were well run and had good cleaning/maintenance standards. One of the hotels that was featured on the show was located in our area of Wisconsin and my husband had stayed at it a short time before the episode was shot for a convention. Luckily cleanliness didn't see to be part of the hotel's problem in person or on the show.

One of the worst ones I've ever seen on Hotel Impossible was in the Orlando/Kissimmee area of all places. It had a nest of killer bees living near one of the balconies, mold in the corridors from past hurricanes, etc. The owner was oblivious to a lot of the problems and kept passing the "I did not know" excuse whenever Anthony tried to point things out.

It was so bad, Anthony ended up pulling the plug on the project and decided to not try and help them further. Bad move on the owner's part. If you want your hotel to succeed, listen to what Anthony says, and most importantly, do what he recommends.

I remember that episode. It was a little scary as to what shape that hotel was in and how "clueless" the owner was.

He does, and truly knows his stuff. I've watched a lot of his normal interviews before, like the one posted earlier, where it's not an episode being filmed and just Anthony sharing his stuff. He knows the industry.

I'll bug you with a couple more:

I’m not by myself on clinical. The size of the hospital determines how big a group of us are there. We also have to share two of the hospitals with students in programs from other schools and that also limits how many of us can be there.

Most of the techs are not bad. It’s just always going to be somewhat nerve racking to have someone watching over you when you’re still unsure of yourself. There are some techs that make it worse though. There’s one tech that will rudely correct students in front of patients. I think that’s just unprofessional. It certainly doesn’t help the patient feel comfortable.

The techs at my favorite hospital I guess just haven’t forgotten what it’s like to be a student. If you make a mistake they’ll say something like, “I still make mistakes like that all time.” And they never act aggravated with students when we ask for help with our paperwork. It’s just a different environment there.

Shockingly, Chicken was not invited to play. Let me see if I can remember the cast off the top of my head...

Jonny Fairplay - Pearl Islands/Micronesia
John Carroll - Marquesas
Jamal Shipman - Island of the Idols
Chelsea Walker - Island of the Idols
Karishma Patel - Island of the Idols
Dean Kowalski - Island of the Idols
Kellyn Bechtold - Ghost Island
Kelley Wentworth - San Juan Del Sur/Cambodia/Edge of Extinction
Abi-Maria Gomes - Philippines/Cambodia
Nick Maiorano - Kaoh Rong
Erik Reichenbach - Micronesia/Caramoan
Carolyn Rivera - Worlds Apart
Sunday Burquest - Millennials vs Gen X
Brice Izyah - Cagayan
Rick Devens - Edge of Extinction
Wardog - Edge of Extinction
Lyrsa Torres - David vs Goliath
J'Tia Taylor - Cagayan
Lauren Beck - Island of the Idols
Peih-Gee Law - China/Cambodia (aka Chicken's fellow cast mate)

This was more of a test for me than to provide information to you. But I did it all without looking back... but it got very hard of the end.

I'd like to take a crack at the header question of Where in the world isn't Bob Saget? I definitely cannot tell you where Bob is, but I can with 100% tell you one place he isn't and that is on the set of Fuller House because the show is competed and he was never really a regular anyway. So I hope this clears up at least 1% of the mystery of where he isn't. Oh by the way he also isn't at my home. 😄
