Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

We took a break from the parks today. I had to be at the 20th anniversary dinner for my church this evening.

There was a wonderful jazz band providing music for us.

The salad had strawberry vinaigrette. I wasn't sure I'd like the dressing but it was so good.

For the main course we had Beef Wellington, mashed potatoes, and green beans. The Beef Wellington was delicious! I'm giving it a 10.

After dinner Dr. Sproul spoke for a bit about the church. It was a wonderful time of fellowship with my new church family.

Reminds me of trying to come up with an appropriate playlist for Father-Daughter dances back in the day...
I've never been to a Father-Daughter dance. The world's second worst dancer - me. The absolute worst - my father!

When it came to the Father-Daughter dance song at my wedding though, my dad 100% picked it. I was not consulted.

Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers. It was also the final, file past the casket song at his funeral.

Ha - I just realized something. If my dad were a poster here, he would be @George. Probably why I love that guy's zany posts so much. Never mean, occasionally unintelligible, with frequent flashes of brilliance. :joyfull:

I am so déclassé. I'm looking at that beautiful food and thinking, "What? No gravy?"

:hilarious: You know I don't do gravy.
Did you recognize the cartoon reference though?

Although made in the 50's, it was a staple of 70's Saturday morning cartoons.

So cool to see Bea Benaderet listed as a voice talent.

And finally, gravy is a wonderful thing. It should be a food group unto itself. I never had to start making gravy until my mom died, as gravy was her specialty. Turns out I'm surprisingly good at it.

I actually didn't recognize it. I've googled it and it still only seems vaguely familiar.

I have a family that loves gravy and I'm from the South. I should love the stuff but I've never cared for it. Just another one of my quirks I suppose. And yet I love poutine. Doesn't really make sense, does it?

Back to Poirot this time.
No maps, no house schematics, no room layouts, and no short, titled chapters. :(

On the plus side, having read the book jacket summary, I have no recollection of how this mystery turns out.

Happy to hear that you've been so welcomed by your new "family" -- by the way, the family can COOK!! :hungry:

My oldest Daughters Wedding and the Father/Daughter dance = Butterfly Kisses (which btw is about 5 hours long). :in pain:

My youngest Daughters... etc. = Edelweiss (when she was little I used to play guitar and she would sing it with me) Short and much more personal. But, mostly short.

After realizing that my old ones were no longer adequate (ie - I couldn't see a thing!), I finally broke down and wore my new sunglasses yesterday.

I hate them! Despite being the darkest tint legally allowed (yeah, right ), they're not even close to being dark enough. Also, the prescription gave me a headache. I don't think I'm meant to have 20/20 vision.

That's alright... none of us really thought that you saw things clearly! ;)

This looks awesome! The wait is going to kill me.

I'm curious how much influence Stranger Things pulled from Stephen King's novel, "IT". The premise looks very similar in both: A group of misfit kids bond together to defeat a supernatural being which takes the form of a (clown (IT) giant alien (Stranger Things).

I haven't seen Stranger Things yet other than the ad's, but probably need to, given it's positive feedback, and vast similarity to my favorite King story of all time (and only horror story I really like, outside of the classic Frankenstein, Dracula, etc.)

But tell me you don't feel a strong connecting theme between the two.

The first season does have nods to King, but it feels more like a Spielberg film, than horror.

The new season is supposed to be darker so they will probably have a lot more King homages this time.
