Quick hello from VA. We took a quick trip through parts of Shenandoah National Park yesterday while waiting for our hotel room to be ready. It was so pretty - lots of wildlife including 3 bald eagles. Fortunately I had my camera with me - unfortunately I don't have anything with me that will read my SD card so I won't be posting any pics til we get back to NY tomorrow.

After last week's bear visitation at work, I decided to go out looking for some this morning in the national park. Stopped by a picnic area around 8:00am, where I've seen bears in the past during early morning hours. Today, it was just pic-a-nic tables.

It was very heavenly & quiet being the only person there. Then I hiked back a bit in an area where bears have been known to frequent, and saw a bear cave that a park ranger told me about before:

Of course, the above image is using zoom on my camera. The actual distance I stood from the cave was much further, for obvious reasons of sanity & wanting to keep all my limbs intact.

Today's nature sightings:

Bears: 0
Sharks racing Olympic swimmers: 0
Bear Caves: 1
Pic-A-Nic Tables: Many

Now it's time for this bat to hibernate before work.
I saw a bear today!

You have guts. I would have never hiked in the vicinity of a cave where bears had been spotted! :jawdrop: (At least up here in the Northeast, we have to be aware of mothers with cubs, in spring and summer. A Maine Guide told me that.)

Then again, I would have liked another picture of a bear! :joyfull: (Go back again this weekend . . . :cautious: :p )
