If we couldn't find a tree in the woods, my dad would cut a few branches from the bigger trees, then we'd tie them together and put them in the stand and decorate it. We loved it !

We would go out and cut a huge Red Cedar for my grandmothers house and then put real tin tinsel on the tree...She also had a huge Holly tree that we had to prune for her greenery.

Between the Cedar and the Holly, I was an itching bleeding mess as a child. But what memories.

She was lucky to have such a nice grandson.

I was intrigued by the real tin tinsel you used back then. That must have looked spectacular on the tree. We never had that--just the plastic kind, and hasn't been used for many years.

We had to stop using tinsel all together..we had a cat.....well you know....they like eating it.

Tinsel is like carpet - it drifts in and out of style.

Some is better than others, and Bud lite is definitely the worst in my opinion.

I don't think they look that much alike but I suppose a taste check was in order just in case.

I consider myself lucky to have the grandparents that I had.

I did a quick Wiki search on tinsel I guess it wasn't made from tin....it was worse...it was made from lead.
