Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Even if a loved one moved away, you can still keep Christmas in your heart, while also creating some new traditions for yourself. Maybe next Christmas, you could put up a different style of Christmas outdoor display--maybe one with music or different colored lights than you used previously. Or maybe just a pretty wreath on your front door with some nice lighting; sometimes less is more.
or you could just put a hot tub in their former bedroom....

I do put a huge wreath on the door....I do love the Holidays and actually decorate to the hilt. But I think where I differ is I decorate early...I start before Thanksgiving. By the time Christmas comes and goes I am tired of looking at them.

That's what I do....I think that's why I was raised with that superstition...we are just tired of it by then...plus it dates back to when we used real greenery and by then it was a fire hazard.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

On that note, my tree maaaay have gone up on November 9th.

Don't hate me because I'm beautiful. Hate me because I'm a Christmas freak.

I really do miss that part of ..."back in the day" My mother would use all fresh greenery. She would make a door wreath....center pieces, even little rings to go around the candles. My dad would take us in the woods and look for holly bushes. ahhhhhhh those are the memories. My mother was also a big "baker". She would bake for what it seemed to be for weeks. Every kind of cookie you could imagine.

That all sounds so Currier and Ives . . . heavenly.

We would go out and cut a huge Red Cedar for my grandmothers house and then put real tin tinsel on the tree...She also had a huge Holly tree that we had to prune for her greenery.

Between the Cedar and the Holly, I was an itching bleeding mess as a child. But what memories.
