*Is it patty or pattie? Cadbury calls its product York Peppermint Pattie, but a pattie refers to a meat product. According to the dictionary, “patty” is more correct for the candy.

I suppose it depends if you are talking about the candy or the Charlie Brown character... :hilarious:

OK - I have a random question. I was listening to Billy Joel on the radio this morning and I LOVE Billy Joel. Every Long Islander does. It's kind of universal. Do people in other parts of the country (continent) like his music or is it a regional thing? I know the Springsteen/NJ connection but he is pretty much an icon anywhere. Is Billy Joel or is that just a Long Island thing?
I've always like Billy Joel....and I'm about as far from being a New Yorker as possible!

Ohioan here and my DW and I love Billy Joel. We've seen him twice in concert with Elton John and our wedding dance was to "She's got a way" (which I just googled and listened to).

(why isn't googled an acceptable word in the spell check?)
You can always right click a red squiggly lined word and add it to your personal dictionary to prevent spell check from trying to correct it...at least on a PC you can.

My head hurts just thinking about this.

I saw him in concert on New Years Eve in - I think - 1991. My sister called her husband (then boyfriend) from a rest stop in NJ as we were driving back from Disney/visiting my grandparents over Christmas break. It was 12/31 and he said that he called Ticketmaster on the off chance tickets were available and they told him that Nassau Coliseum would be selling some tickets at the venue on a first come first serve basis for people whose credit cards had been declined and they were not able to provide another form of payment (or something like that - it was a long time ago!) Anyway, he drove there and was able to score 3 tickets to that night's show. Billy Joel stopped in the middle of Big Shot to count down the new year and dropped balloons from the ceiling. Sang auld lang syne. It was really cool. Then he just went on with the show. When he came back out for some encore songs he announced "we have some unfinished business" and picked up Big Shot right where they left off. Very cool.

That sounds great. So, from MA here, and my hubby and I had the pleasure of seeing him at Madison Square Garden, New Year's Eve, at the turn of the century!! Best New Year's Eve we ever had; Billy put on an outstanding show and all his musicians, singers, etc., were top notch. Love his music--I think he's timeless.

I did not get that from the original post AT ALL.

So everyone loves him. Wasn't sure since he makes so many Long Island/NY references but I guess Seinfeld does too and people love that show as well.
