Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

I was having drinks in this lounge last weekend and the DJ played an EDM remix of Big Shot. My first thought was that you would be very offended by this destruction of a Billy Joel song.

My head hurts just thinking about this.

I saw him in concert on New Years Eve in - I think - 1991. My sister called her husband (then boyfriend) from a rest stop in NJ as we were driving back from Disney/visiting my grandparents over Christmas break. It was 12/31 and he said that he called Ticketmaster on the off chance tickets were available and they told him that Nassau Coliseum would be selling some tickets at the venue on a first come first serve basis for people whose credit cards had been declined and they were not able to provide another form of payment (or something like that - it was a long time ago!) Anyway, he drove there and was able to score 3 tickets to that night's show. Billy Joel stopped in the middle of Big Shot to count down the new year and dropped balloons from the ceiling. Sang auld lang syne. It was really cool. Then he just went on with the show. When he came back out for some encore songs he announced "we have some unfinished business" and picked up Big Shot right where they left off. Very cool.

Ohioan here and my DW and I love Billy Joel. We've seen him twice in concert with Elton John and our wedding dance was to "She's got a way" (which I just googled and listened to).

(why isn't googled an acceptable word in the spell check?)

I love that song.

OK - I have a random question. I was listening to Billy Joel on the radio this morning and I LOVE Billy Joel. Every Long Islander does. It's kind of universal. Do people in other parts of the country (continent) like his music or is it a regional thing? I know the Springsteen/NJ connection but he is pretty much an icon anywhere. Is Billy Joel or is that just a Long Island thing?
We know who he is here, but I don't know anyone who's crazy about him. We prefer tipping cows to listening to music.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
I'm curious what some other parts of the country (@unkadug) and continent (yup @JenniferS - I'm talking to you!) have to say - Billy Joel - yay or nay?
Hubby is a huuuuuge Billy Joel fan. For a month or so, there was a Billy Joel channel on Sirius, and Hubby never switched the dial once.

I, on the other hand, if you recall, am not a music fan. While there are a few songs I enjoy, I considered divorcing Hubby during that month.
