This time tomorrow night, I'll be watching Wicked. My first proper musical, because the high school productions I've watched just don't quite qualify...
I don't count high school productions either, but just out of curiosity, what have you seen/performed in? (I don't know if you've ever been in a musical, but it's possible.) I was a can can dancer in Paint Your Wagon in 8th grade, Laura something in Ducktales and Bobbysocks my freshman year, Daisy Mae in Li'l Abner my sophomore year, Christie something in Little Miss Christie my Junior year, and Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady my senior year. And I was an appleseed in Johnny appleseed with the Missoula Children's theater when I was in first grade...they came every year to do a play and cast local kids in the productions and they'd rehearse for a week and then perform, and move on to the next town and do it all again.
I saw a high school production of South Pacific in the next town over from ours.

And broadway, I watched Phantom of the Opera at the Majestic theater in NYC while I was there with my choir performing in Carnegie Hall. I also watched a touring company of Grease in Denver when I was in college.

I haven't been in anything. That was never my jam. I can't remember all the musicals/plays our high school put on... one was Huck Finn? As a teacher, we go up to the high school with our class each year to see a preview of their musical. So we've seen Suessical the Musical and last year was High School Musical. I can't remember anything else, though. Clearly they didn't have a huge impact on me. šŸ˜‚

I'm also a voice snob, if that's a thing. I have a hard time enjoying something like that if their voice isn't in tune and hitting the right notes. That might sound like a given, but without trying to offend high schoolers, they usually are not very talented. Rural Wisconsin doesn't tend to produce a lot of Broadway caliber singers. Although my class in high school did have one who was really good, but she ended up moving to Michigan to attend a music school. She was also very stuck up and made it known to everyone that she was far more talented than them and smarter than them. While true, the holier than thou attitude rubbed me the wrong way.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Saw the sad news about Hulk Hogan earlier this morning.
R.I.P., brother.
We had a wee encounter with Hulk decades ago. He waved to us and did a shoutout in 91, maybe 92.

We used to pass his house multiple times/day on the Intracoastal, on the way to our hotel. He was out watering his flowering bushes/trees one evening and we recognized him immediately!

We were stopped at a red light, so we shouted ā€œHey Hulkā€ and he waved and shouted something back. Don’t remember what. Might have been ā€œbrotherā€.
