Maybe because my dad is now disabled, and he often asks me what my brother would be like/what would he be doing now, had he lived. 
My bff who was walking into the office was on the phone with me when the first plane hit. We thought it was a tragic accident until the second plane hit which I saw on the news in real time. Then everything was a blur but I remember people being asked not to use their phones except for emergencies and communicating with people using dial up email which is how I found out my aunt was home and my bother in law was heading into the city to be part of the cleanup. He has health issues do to that.I know you do, you're one of the regulars who remember every year.
Honestly, I read it again today from the beginning ( I always do), but this year it made me cry something awful

I'm canning up 50 pounds of whole tomatoes today, do you think I should add basil to any of them
Why yes, I think basil would be a delightful addition teehee
My current thought on the subject is maybe putting some in about a quarter of the jars because basil does go very with tomatoes but doesn't always go well in some dishes with tomatoes

About 75 more pounds of tomatoes, kale, lettuce, bok choi, some herbs, zucchini, a few cucumbers, eggplant and I'll see what else looks good
and garlic also
I don't think any of us that were around that day are forgetting it. It was almost surreal, except it was real.
