Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

I have totally been jamming out to Christmas music tonight. I'm so into the Christmas spirit right now.

I had some kids in my room working on homework at the end of the day and one of the girls started humming Christmas. I giggled a little and she apologized for the Christmas music so early. I laughed and put on Christmas music and we all had a good discussion about Christmas music. Most of us agreed it isn't too early for Christmas music yet (or decorations).

I'll skip the Halloween party and jump to our Polar Express Day right now. The kids wear their pajamas, and we read the book and watch the movie.

My kids are bums, but my word, they can discuss poetry. Half an hour now, we have been debating why our individual favourite poem is the best.

Spenser - The Lady of Shalott, by Alfred, Lord Tennyson

Ski - I read my sentence - steadily, by Emily Dickinson

Me - Ozymandius, by Percy Bysshe Shelley

Mike isn’t here, but I’m sure his is some kind of limerick about a guy from an island in Massachusetts.

It might seem a bit cliché but I would have to go with The Raven , although I am partial to a bit of Pam Ayers 🤪

I used to love “Sarah Cynthia Silvia Stout”! Now I live with two of them.

Fun fact - Shel Silverstein is not Canadian. I just learned that today. I don’t know why, but I always assumed he was.
Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout would not take the garbage out
She'd scour the pots and scrub the pans
Candy the yams and spice the hams
And though her daddy would scream and shout
She simply would not take the garbage out
And so, it piled up to the ceilings
Coffee grounds, potato peelings
Brown bananas, rotten peas, chunks of sour cottage cheese
That filled the can and covered the floor, cracked the window and blocked the door
With bacon rinds and chicken bones, drippy ins of ice cream cones
Prune pits, peach pits, orange peel
Gluppy glumps of cold oat meal, pizza crust and withered greens
And soggy beans and tangerines and crust of black burned buttered toast
And gristly bits of beefy roast
The garbage rolled on down the hall, it raised the roof, it broke the wall
I mean, greasy napkins, cookie crumbs
Globs of gooey bubble gums, cellophane from green baloney, rubbery blubbery macaroni, peanut butter, caked and dry
Curdled milk and crusts of pie, moldy melons, dried-up mustard, eggshells mixed with lemon custard
Cold french fries and rancid meat, yellow lumps of Cream of Wheat
At last the garbage reached so high that it finally touched the sky
And all the neighbors moved away
And none of her friends would come to play
And finally, Sarah Cynthia Stout said
"OK, I'll take the garbage out!"
But then, of course, it was too late
The garbage reached across the state
From New York to the Golden Gate
And there, in the garbage she did hate
Poor Sarah met an awful fate
That I cannot, right now relate
Because the hour is much too late
But children, remember Sarah Stout
And always take the garbage out

See! Sounds just like my boys.
I often refer to them as the Collyer Brothers.

It's never to early to watch Love Actually though. Watched on my plane ride home and it wasn't censored either (for the safety of the other passengers).

Today is the last night that “A Haunting in Venice” is playing, so I’m going. It doesn’t matter that I already know “who dunnit” - it’s a visually stunning film that needs to be seen on the big screen.

@Goofyernmost, did you go see it?

I had quite the morning today. I hit a deer on my way to work. Head on, full speed. It ran out full speed over a berm to the right of the highway. The berm was also covered in brush, so there was literally no way to see it until it was too late.

Luckily, nobody was around me, and I am totally fine. But my hood popped up, and the entire front is dented in. The radiator is bent up, and all the cosmetics on the front are ruined. I had it towed to a collision center, but the owner wasn't in today, so they're hoping he'll be there tomorrow to give me a call.

My dad was working from home today, so I ended up taking his car to work a few hours later. He's going to take me to work the next couple days and pick me up on his way to and from work.

I'm assuming my car is totaled, which isn't great. I just paid off my student loans a few weeks ago, so it's been a nice three weeks of being debt free. I'm assuming I'll have to get a new car.

I haven't had great luck on that stretch of road. For those that remember, I hit black ice while commuting to work one morning during my first year teaching. It ended up totaling the car. The two accidents happened about a mile from each other.

But all in all, I'm just happy that I'm okay. Not a scratch on me.

That's bad news. But shouldn't your insurance cover the damage or a replacement car, so you don't have more debt?

Glad you're ok.

If it's totaled, insurance will cover the amount it's worth. But the car I get will cost more, so I'll have to take out a loan depending on how much of a down payment I'd put in along with the money I get from insurance. I'd rather get a decent car that can last me a long time, rather than one I need to replace in a few years anyway. Especially if I have the extra money from insurance to go along with a down payment.

Also, if I do get a new car, I want something with all wheel drive. I've been eyeing some GMC Terrains today. I think they're my favorite "small SUV" style car.
