I am going to vent with you because you also teach in an elementary school.
Today I heard : "I forgot" waaaaayyyyy too many times.
My students used those two words frequently today.
So....I'm READY for it to be the weekend! ;)
It was a looooong day. I literally had zero seconds to myself, unless I was using the bathroom. Here's my day:

  1. Fire drill
  2. Indoor recess
  3. Lunch duty
  4. Homecoming assembly
  5. No prep due to homecoming assembly
  6. Last night was a homecoming parade, so the kids were hyped on sugar
I'm glad it's the weekend.

I forgot to add we had a student birthday, too.

I would not like that at all. Too many PD days for me. How do YOU feel about that system?🤔
It's a lot better than what we used to have. We used to have early release every Wednesday, and we accomplished nothing because we only had 1.5 hours, and staff were burnt out by that time of day. And we never had a plan.

Now we have our agendas made well in advance, and we can have a full day to accomplish whatever the task is. I find PD days incredibly valuable, if they're utilized the right way.

I am on two different teams who are leading parts of our PD Mondays this year, so this Monday I am responsible for two hours of our day. But it's meaningful and worthwhile stuff.

We also have a pretty darn good staff, and there aren't tons of Debby Downers unless it's warranted.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Do you get the Monday holiday off? (Indigenous Peoples' Day / Columbus Day -- different states call it different names.)
We call it Thanksgiving!
We’re having turkey, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, and sweet potatoes. Pumpkin pie and Cool Whip for dessert.

I just realized that I forgot Pillsbury Crescent rolls. Oh well, I’m not going back out there, it’ll be a zoo.

I stayed home again last night. Mike stayed at the trailer. He’s only got a few weekends off between now and the end of the month to clean and prep Baby Bo for his 6-month long off-season.
