There were severe storms around here yesterday evening. Luckily for us, they went right around us. But pretty much every town around us had high winds and damage. We just happened to be in the tiny gap between the strong cells. We also missed out on the snow that fell afterwards.

The backyard daffys are a bit slower, but they are later-flowering varieties.

And I’m really glad to see that my mini “tete-a-tete” variety are doing well this year after struggling the past few springs.

(yes, my garden ornaments need more than just touching up, they desperately need a full fresh coat of paint, I’ll get to it. 😁)

I almost hesitate to say that most of the grass around here is green year round. In the cooler weather it doesn't grow very fast but the do still mow them about every 3 weeks. All the trees that shed their leaves here are about the same as up north, but the dogwoods bloom beautifully in the spring. They're all sprouted now and many have all their leaves back again. There are a few stragglers but that is OK. Strawberry's are even about calf high, some even have berries already. Sorry, that is cruel. It came to mind today when I was watching the women's amateur golf tournament at Augusta National and I remembered how I used to watch the Masters (next week) and look out my window at about three feet of snow and there was Augusta with flowering dogwoods, magnolia trees and tons of flowers everywhere and grass unnaturally green. Always made me jealous.

I just had a cardinal come sit on my balcony. It flew away before I could get a picture.
There's a place in the woods that I often walk through, and I know where the cardinals hang out. (Yup, birds are territorial as well as other animals in the wild.)

Anyway, it's nearly impossible to get a photo, because they usually only perch on a branch or the ground, for a second, and then they're off again! (I think they fear humans in their space.)
