When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
If you squint real hard, looks just like turkey.

Merry Christmas fellow Sageteers. Pretty low key day for us. Brunch with my brothers and their families, watched Spirited with Spenser, and assembled Mike’s new Blackstone grill and stand. Hope Santa treated you all well!

It’s been a tough few months. I’m on day 11 of this horrendous cough; and Mike started to feel poorly this afternoon. There was no way he was NOT going to catch this. (Hopefully the boys will sidestep it.) Tomorrow is Mike’s family Christmas. We’re going to have to keep our visit brief … and masked. In all honesty, I don’t think we should go at all, but the past two Boxing Day get-togethers were cancelled because of COVID restrictions, so there are many family members we haven’t seen since 2019. Again, brief, masked, no handling the new babies, or hugging anyone. Sigh.

A Blackstone? They’re awesome.

For the record, I’ve been looking at them for a couple of years, but he kept saying we didn’t need one … then we got one as part of the RV package we bought, and low and behold, he doesn’t know how he ever lived without one. 😂

@JenniferS , I hope you start feeling a lot better soon. Bummer that you're a bit under the weather during the holidays. You've had a difficult month in general, and fingers crossed that good health and happy experiences are ahead.
Thank you. Mike ended up being too sick to attend his family Christmas. Spenser and I masked up, made an appearance, dropped off gifts, said “Hello/Good-bye” to each family table. His family was very sad not to see him. He’s the youngest of seven, and just about everyone’s favourite sibling.

Mike crawled back into bed, and stayed put for the majority of the day/night. Sad to say, but the bigger they are, the harder they fall.

That's because there is much more square footage to be sick. Short people have it easy.

@Goofyernmost , I hope you had a nice Christmas on Sunday, with your daughters, and their families.
I did Minnie, thanks for the good wishes. In fact, it was one of the best Christmas season gathering we have had for a long time. Political things have calmed down enough so that everyone feels a little calmer and less threatened and it made a big difference.

In my extended family, we don’t debate politics. No, we would debate Ivermectin vs vaccines … if I were inclined to debate, which I am not. I am, however, inclined to roll my eyes, but that’s an involuntary gesture over which I have no control. (My brothers would say that it’s probably a side effect of the vaccines. 😂😂)

Anyone on this thread able to comment on a possible bread shortage here due to Ukraine suffering from Russia's invasion?
No, that thought comes under the heading of conspiracy theory, however, your original question was what did it mean. It was a basic definition of where a whole lot of our food necessities originated, from the time that railroads were running cross country to the mid-1950's. It was that expansive amount of open land that allowed massive plantings and supplies of corn, wheat, rye and therefore beef, pork and other animals that could be developed because of the quantities supply. It was our Bread Basket and a place we completely relied upon to provide us with the basic carbs required for life and where we went to when we needed it. We no longer totally rely on that area for our life's grains so we stopped referring it as such.

OK. This is what I was asking about and the type of answer I was seeking.
Someone working for this website was maybe overly cautious and shut down the thread.
Yet that doesn't matter, you've already provided a great answer.
