Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

JenniferS

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
She’s learned either tell us in Fahrenheit or be prepared to translate.
I was part of the crossover generation. The metric system was introduced to the curriculum when I was in grades 4 and 5. That, combined with an abundance of US tv channels growing up, pretty much guaranteed I am equally competent (or incompetent as it may be) in both systems.

Mike was only one year behind me in school, but he in not proficient in °F at all. And to my kids, °F might as well be Greek.

Just a reminder though:

So you're saying that we are still the leader in terms of measurement? When are you guys planning on catching up?

I know, right?
0 = freezing and 100 = boiling is just so difficult to adapt to.
Either one is random isn't it. Who decided that 0 degrees was freezing or that 32 degrees was freezing. Why is that any easier once you know it. Or why is it any more correct to say 100,000 kilometers on a car instead of 60,000 miles. It's the same distance either way. (give or take)

Just kidding really, it will turn slowly but will eventually. I'm not likely to live to see it, but it will. We managed to sneak metrics into redneck tools without them even figuring it out or complaining. Even they learned how to use it. These are the same people that shot holes in the metric speed limit signs when we tried to put those up.

You ain’t kidding - I was shocked to learn that the last set of pliers, channel locks and crescent wrenches that I bought were all Metric. That’s what I get for not reading the packaging….

Hey guys, can I ask for prayers/pixie dust for my MIL and my daughter's friend? My MIL seems to have maybe had a TIA this past week. That's what her doctor thinks it might be. She's basically like Dory. Like, I came in today and said hi to her, talked for a few minutes, then left the room to go to the bathroom, came back in and she says "Oh, Susan! I hadn't seen you yet! Hi!" when I had just literally talked to her 3 minutes before. She grabbed her pill box for Saturday several times in an hour and a half and asks "Is it Saturday?" My husband was there yesterday....it was her birthday, and she kept grabbing the same birthday card and saying "Oh what a nice card! Who's this from?" At least 4 times, he said. And she rediscovers the flowers she got every half hour. She has an appt. with the neurologist on Wednesday unless she gets worse and starts pouring coffee grounds into the toaster or something, in which case they'd want to get her in sooner. But for now, the doc gave her blood thinners to prevent an actual stroke.

And my daughter's friend ended up having emergency surgery today. They were all supposed to get together at her best friend's house tonight, but they got a message that Rosan was having surgery today because she's been getting headaches and has had balance problems, so they took her to the doctor, and they found a cyst blocking the "drainage". We're not sure exactly what that entails, but given the headaches and balance problems, I would think something in the head....like maybe the ear canal or something? Anyway, it required surgery. E said Rosan had a really bad headache yesterday and they were encouraging her to go home....so I guess it was not just a little headache, and then suddenly she's having unexpected surgery today. E said she got a message that the surgery went well, and if all goes well with recovery, she can come home Tuesday.

So good vibes, prayers, whatever you feel comfortable with, please!!

It's been really crappy weather here. We had the 70 degree day on Monday, and since then it's been rainy, cold, and windy. Highs in the 30s or 40s. I'm just starting spring break, and the next week is all highs in the 30s or 40s, and sometimes rain. One day in the low 50s, but rainy. 😩
