Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

I started watching a Disney Cruise Line vlog series, and now I've found myself listening to Margaritaville wishing I was in the Bahamas.
I know that feeling. I once read a book when in High School called "Wind from the Carolina" by Robert Wilder. It is a big book that follows a family that made a fortune in So. Carolina via slaves and cotton. It starts just before the revolutionary war. The patriarch of the family is upset by the stirrings of revolution and packs up everything, and I mean everything included the southern mansion, dismantled brick by brick, and moved to Great Exuma Island in the Bahamas. Rebuilds on the land grant from England and tries to make it all work from there. Anyway it goes for over 3 generations and follow the lives of the family, the ups and downs. From going broke to finally changing gears and getting their wealth back and so on.

It made me want to go to Great Exuma, Bahama's and find the ruins of the old mansion even though I knew that the whole book was historical fiction. I finally went on a cruise to the Bahama's, but just to Nassau where I was finally able to click my brain into acknowledging that the specific location was located only in the pages of the book. I have worn out one copy of the book and acquired another on Ebay about 20 years ago, but have not seen it available anywhere else since then.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

Amazon. Not cheap. But that’s CAD, so really only about 8 bucks to you.

Wow, and to think that it was originally purchased for 1 cent on a book of the month startup promo that my father ordered back in the mid-60's. It was just a strange and happy accident that I ever even looked at it because previous to that James Bond novels were my only reading material. That's the original, of course, the second one was bought about 15 years ago by an X girlfriend. It was from the original vintage because it was never republished after the initial print. I guess I'll hang on to it for awhile. My current copy is in pristine condition except for the the paper jacket. I don't need one at this point. Both of mine were hardcover.

I have a grandson that is literature, illiterate. If it ain't about sports he is not interested. I wanted him to read it because I was hoping to get lightening to strike twice. Until I read that book I was only reading words. That was the first book I ever read where I was absorbed in the story almost as if I was there and part of the story. But, he wouldn't even give it a look. I know it started my lifelong enjoyment of reading.

I just watched a detailed report on the spots in our state that still need to "report" their votes. We viewers were told that these areas are historically loyal to Democratic candidates.
I ( and likely other posters) are really missing the previous/ now removed wdwmagic political forum today. If it still existed there are things I would like to say. I won't bother saying it here because a moderator will just remove it.
