Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Yes, tomorrow is President's Day. We have never gotten it off in Wisconsin. At least nobody has in my region. My district has never gotten MLK Jr. Day off, either. My district goes from winter break to spring break with 0 scheduled days off. It's a long drag. But we've had 3 snow days and 1 virtual day over the course of three weeks now, so I can't complain.
We never got those days off either, and our "spring break" was actually Easter and we only got a couple of days...Good Friday and then the Monday....IF we didn't need to make up snowdays. Over here, I'm amazed by how many days the kids get off. This is the first day of Spring break, for which they get a week. Then in April/May they get a week or two (depends on the school....last year my daughter only had one week where my son had 2), then they get Ascention Day and Whitsun/Pentacost. But then they don't get out of school for the year until July.

Enjoy your snow day!!

Our friend @Eric1955 has been quite busy with his studies. He has also been dealing with the illness of his much loved grandmother (Maw-Maw).

Unfortunately she contracted COVID early this year, and despite being in relatively good health, she succumbed this afternoon.

It is our great regret that Mike and I never got to meet her in person, as our 2020 travel plans were interrupted by the virus and a closed border. She was an extraordinary lady, and I know that I will get to meet her in a better place.

She was married for 55 years to the love of her life, and unfortunately was taken from him on Valentine’s Day.

Not to be political, because Lord knows there are enough threads that have politicized COVID, but please know that the virus is real, and take the necessary precautions to protect yourself and your loved ones.

Love you guys. Stay safe. ❤️

Thank you, Jennifer, for letting us know. My heart goes out to @Eric1955 due to the passing of his grandmother. Sending my prayers to him and his family. :(

Schools are closed the entire week here.
I don't know what is going on "normally" in Vermont, but Presidents week was always our head to WDW week. It was the week plus the first few days of March because that is when Town Meeting days were and they used the school gyms for that so they stayed closed until after the meeting. That gave us enough time to drive down, spend a few glorious days in the warmth of Florida before heading back north. All the while praying that we didn't run into a storm on the way back. I always looked forward to Presidents week.

Our spring break sometimes correlates with Easter, depending on when Easter is. If it's later in the year, our spring break is in March. This year Easter is very early in April, so our spring break starts the last few days of March and extends through the Monday after Easter.

I like it when we have a full week for spring break in March, then a couple days off around Easter.

March Break here is in the middle of March, and is a full week - 9 days technically. Easter Break is a totally separate 4-day weekend, involving Good Friday and the Monday after Easter.

This year however, because of an extended Christmas closure (some districts went back last week; the rest finally start tomorrow), March Break has been delayed 4 weeks, and will be after the Easter long weekend for probably the first time ever.

Depending upon whom you listen, by then the “variants” may have firmly taken root and the numbers could be so bad, that they may go back to virtual learning for the rest of the year.

Until enough of us are vaccinated, 2021 isn’t shaping up to be any better than that dumpster fire we called 2020.

In the meantime, happy Family Day/President’s Day.

Oh, there are a few things that are better, so other than inconvenience I feel much better about everything.

Most days I do too. Some days I don’t.

We’ve got a big storm arriving soon, 8-14” of snow expected. Something in the air just before a storm always put me on edge. I’m assuming that’s it, because usually I feel more optimistic than this. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I think pretty much when I was a kid, this was the "February School Vacation Week". It's interesting to read from others, how some of their kids' vacation weeks are different. All I know is that I loved this week in February, because we always had snow. We'd go sledding, make snowmen, and have snowball fights with the other kids on the street (suburban area).

Wind does that to me. I don't know why but a windy day will drag me down into the depths.

Sorry @MinnieM123 - I’ve got a bunch of outside stuff I need to get on and it’s just too darn cold (and now snow covered) to take care of. We had a lightning strike hit a tree and it came up a metal t-post and got onto the electric fence wires and basically took it all of the insulators and the main unit. I replaced the unit, but the insulators are leaking so bad, I can touch the wire and not feel much. I have to replace all the insulators on the wood posts in the front pastures. I just hope the horses don’t figure that out or they might make a break to go into town! :hilarious:
