Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

no use going to all that work just buy a roasted chicken and call it a baby turkey then put up the tree
I did a baby turkey last night because the store that sells American products finally got Stuffing back in stock after months and months. So we did a chicken, stuffing, and some potatoes. But not so we can put up a tree.

Canananananada's Thanskgiving is Monday, correct?

The Premier is begging families to restrict dinner to members of your immediate household, so it will be just the four of us.

COVID numbers have exploded here recently and significant roll backs to earlier stages kick in at midnight tonight. I’m not in any of the regions affected, but I work in Durham Region which is immediately adjacent to Toronto.

We’ve gone from 80’ish cases/day to 939 today, across the province. It is what it is. 2020 is a write off anyway, what’s one more holiday down the drain?

I purchased the same fully prepared meal that we had last year. I phoned my brother a week ago, figuring this would happen, and offered to buy him a meal too, so he can celebrate with his household. I’m headed out shortly to pick them up. Thanksgiving is less of a big deal here than it is for you guys.

I’m hoping my work doesn’t get shut down - I’ve been selling like gangbusters, but if it does, at least we know that selling virtually works too.

I’m watching the news conference right now, and it’s fairly disheartening, as we were doing so well. People got complacent ... COVID fatigue set in ... some still think it’s a hoax. Whatever the reason, COVID doesn’t care.

Sorry for the tl;dr. Yes, just the four of us. 😂
We're in the same boat here. In the Summer we were down to something like 60 cases per day, nation wide. Now we're up over 5000/day. People got complacent and stopped distancing, etc. They are urgently advising people to wear masks, but most aren't. One of the high schools here in town has something like 40 students in quarantine because 4 kids tested positive. E's school has at least 2 kids with positive cases, and I'm not sure how many are in quarantine because of it. So far it hasn't reached her class yet, but she has a couple of good friends in one of the classes in which a kid tested positive, but we don't know if it was in her friends' actual class grouping. The email said someone in Havo 3, but there are a few classes of Havo 3, so we don't know which one it is. But that email came yesterday after school, so her friends could still be in the incubtion period if they caught it. If E gets sick next week, I guess we'll have to get her tested.

Cool! We'll be celebrating national chess day by making Knight shaped cookies....A won a cookie cutter last night at chess.

But....shouldn't EVERY day be a Stop Bullying day?

Speaking of Menards, I got a display Christmas tree from them after Christmas last year. It has color changing lights. I typically don't like buying displays, but I'm a big Christmas tree snob, and I liked this one. It didn't have lots of holes, the colors weren't bad, it didn't have fake snow or weird things in it. And it was originally a price I wouldn't pay.

I also got a lot more clearance Christmas decorations that day. My mom and I went to a few stores in town on the 26th to look for bargains. I think she got a lot of clearance wrapping paper to use this year.

If you hadn't heard, I love Christmas.

Good eye, yes it is. Just a small portion of their display....
The green carpet gave it away, as well as the Christmas trees being displayed under the upstairs portion where they store overstock products. That's how they set up the one in my town, too. Menards always has one of the better Christmas displays around here.

That was when being married to a Canadian came with benefits. I got to have two Thanksgiving dinners a year. One when it was supposed to be and one in October. ;) Just kidding, I realize that it really is much more sensible to celebrate the harvest when it is closer to the harvest time and less close to freeze your butt off season. "All the crops are in so let's party like it's 1776!" 🥳 Winter, she's a comin'! 🥶
