14.I've now posted 5 times in a row. I wonder what the record is...?? Anybody know who I could ask about that?
Not that you were counting...
No of course not.Not that you were counting...
Oh they don’t mean anything. It’s like a best if used by, freshness date.expiration date?
Three things that I check the date on... Meat.. because after a certain number of days, the price is reduced, but, color is a big factor in determining the health of it along with smell. Milk... again an item that does have a valid "Buy by" date, but, not needed after because it isn't at all hard to tell when milk has gone south and lastly, bread products, again because it has a self life, but, pretty much anything else.. not really concerned.I'm glad that food products show a best by date, or a use by date. I always check when I buy. Also, I can keep an eye on things in the refrigerator, and use them within a reasonable time. That may not be the exact expiration or best buy date, but it would be around the date. And yes, smell and visual inspection is very important as well.
I like that dates keep food from sitting on store shelves forever, as it forces the stores to rotate out the older products.

My other song I'm into right now... "My Church" by Maren Morris. I guess I'm on a country vibe right now.
I typically hate modern country. I liked it in the 2000s, but it's gotten bad as of late. This is one of the few recent country songs I enjoy.I went through that phase when I was in my early 50's. I was just recently divorced and the very essence of all country music is linked to some disaster and designed to be a tear jerker. After a couple of years I discovered that, on the radio, I was listening to the same songs that I first heard two years before. An even greater puzzlement is that every once in a while I will try again and to my dismay I am still hearing the same ones. Or maybe my car radio is in some type of Twilight Zone time warp. Or maybe I stopped being depressed and no longer needed the my life's a mess music.
I'm guessing that when we have our own music list on our phones, it is still repetitive in nature.

Same. I check all dates in the store but once it’s in my house it’s a smell/taste/texture test and I ignore the dates (except yogurt and sour cream - those go a few days after the date).Milk in particular, I buy the most further-ahead date I can find. Sure, the whiff test is always helpful after a while, but I figure I can reduce the need for that, if I buy the farthest ahead freshness date I can find in the milk case.
Exactly! I think that most people do the same thing. I shop at Walmart and they have a huge wall of all types and percentages of milk there. In any given section you will see a gaping hole in the shelf where the date is out the furthest. Eventually, when that runs out they have to buy the stuff that is still good, but, a closer "use by" date.Milk in particular, I buy the most further-ahead date I can find. Actually, with Diet drinks, the sweetener has a short shelf life and it is NASTY when it goes bad. If she tasted it first, there's a reason she checked the date....you wouldn't need to unless you questioned the date because it didn't taste right. I've run into that a few times with diet coke/pepsi, etc...the full sugar versions don't seem to matter a lot, but the ones on diet really do.Good. I only mentioned it for those that throw perfectly good food away the minute the "Best By" date is reached. It, of course, is their business, but, I hate to see people sucked in by a mass corporate misinformation designed to just increase their sales.
Not to long ago my daughter was visiting me. I buy Diet Coke for them, I don't drink it so it was a few months past the "best by" date and she took one sip and looked at the date and dumped it out in the sink. It still had all it's co2 and was as bubbly as a can filled yesterday, but, that date was on it so out it went. Incredible, I'd a thought a person with a degree from Tulane University would have been smarter then be taken in by corporate greed.
It's SOOOOO windy here. Biking from work to my DS's school to pick him up was murder. It's only a few minute bike ride, but that exhausted me. I could hardly make any progress. Glad to be home!!Weather as of this morning: Should be in the 30s-40s for the foreseeable future with absolutely no precipitation!
Weather as of tonight: Yeah, tomorrow morning's commute will almost certainly consist of a rain/snow mix, then the next couple of days with be a high of 20. Oh, and it will probably be pretty windy, too.
This morning's commute turned out to be perfect weather. This afternoon it got super windy here, too. My car (Chevy Impala, so it's not a small car) was getting tossed around on the highway. It's SOOOOO windy here. Biking from work to my DS's school to pick him up was murder. Yeah, we were supposed to get the snow/ice/rain mix last night but nothing but a lot of wind. It's still super windy here, it freaks my dog out. We get spooked about that kind of stuff, but it also makes her super snuggly because she is looking for protection.
My old dog was afraid of everything, including the wind. My current dog doesn't care at all. Except she's afraid of one particular reclining chair, but only sometimes and it's typically when someone has a blanket on while sitting in it.
