You're the Yankees

Dingers, dingers, and more dingers, provided by the likes of Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and Didi Gregorius. Oh, and did we mention dingers?
We all still love ya even though you side with evil.

US residents: They're testing the Presidential alert system at 2:18. Even though I KNOW it's coming - if it uses the same sound tone as the flood warning it's still going to scare the pants off me.
I read that even if our phones were on silent, it would still sound. However, mine never sounded, which I'm thankful for, because a group of 1st graders would not be able to get refocused if they heard that.

For the record, if I were choosing a baseball movie it would either be The Natural* or Field of Dreams.

*they played the theme during the pre-game montage for David Wright. Tears, tears, everywhere, as far as the eye could see (through all the tears).
I hear David Wright and I think of the scrawny guy from Survivor.

Never heard anything. I never heard about it or heard it at all. I must be not on the government checklist. Can't say that bothers me.

EDIT: I just remember that I shut off my alerts last night for a completely different reason. And just happened to turn it back on around three today. Talk about fortunate timing.

It said around 75% of cell phones would get the alert, and that you would be alerted even if you have notifications of any kind turned off. Maybe you were part of the other 25%? Or maybe the article I was reading was inaccurate... very possible, too.

Yah, you really didn't miss anything! ;) :hilarious:

Oh by the way, good luck with the eye doctor appt. tomorrow. Hope he can help your eye get well.

The other guy is a very sweet dog. He’s a rescue and he had been abused - his leg was broken and didn’t entirely heal properly so he favors it - but despite having what appears to have been an awful upbringing he’s just the sweetest happiest little guy.

These stories just melt my heart. So glad he found you and your family to live with. Good people make all the bad memories fade away for him.

and an update on the closet work from this morning. We saved 157 pieces of clothing and donated 4 more bags plus a couple of boxes of clothes. Most of the stuff is name-brand, hardly-if-ever worn, beautiful stuff. Hopefully it will find a worthy new home.

Yes, at least many of these things can be donated, and there will be some very happy people who can put them to good use.

Woo hoo - stitches are out.
And it’s a good thing that driving a car is like riding a bike - it’s been exactly a month since I last drove.

Yea!! You're doing quite well, and gaining back your physical independence. Wonderful news!

Also could be I live in an area the Verizon doesn't like very much. And I live in a fairly good sized area of greater Raleigh. They will graciously allow me to pay them $150., last time I asked, for a power booster so I can get constant dependable service that I am already paying for with my monthly fees. Incredible kindness don't you think? I recently change internet/TV cable that includes in the price a landline. Anyone I have an interest in talking too knows my number for that one. Everyone else is hit or miss on my cell.

I use my phone for texting, playing games, Googling, and hanging out here.

Once in a blue moon, I actually get a call. 😂

On our last trip here, DH and I had cleaned out 2 1/2 shelves from the pantry, basically threw away 3 huge bags of long expired canned goods and baking supplies.

I meant to mention this yesterday. A long time ago, my grandmother passed away. So, the family and rellies were cleaning out her house. Aside of all the things in the kitchen cabinets (too numerous to list), we came across an old jar of some preserves she had put up -- date she marked on the top was something like 1954!! Looking from the outside into the glass jar, the color was interesting . . . I recall my brother saying, "We could wipe out a whole village with this stuff!!" :hilarious:
