Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
So yay ... Thanksgiving is done for another year.

Not pictured - cranberry sauce and crescent rolls. And no, I don’t mind various foods touching. In fact I encourage it.
Everyone else drank non-alcoholic sparkling fruit juice in wine glasses. I had milk. Not in a wine glass, ‘cause that would be weird.

All cleaned up now.

So the order goes: Trick or treat, Turkey, Tree ... right?

Well, I’ve had my turkey. I’m skipping trick or treat. Can I go straight to tree? (Don’t laugh. My brother Jamie is putting his up this week.)

My Thanksgiving will be down to 6 people this year. My parents, my brother, my aunt and my dad's cousin. Granted, we've never had a huge family on my dad's side, but it's really low now. We won't have to bring extra chairs to the table anymore.

Picking up my Quick Trip TR from where I left off:

Around 9:30ish Monday morning, I arrive at this beautiful swamp in south Georgia:

The Okefenokee Swamp (pronounced: "Oh-Key-Finn-Oh-Key") is a 700 sq mile stretch of wetland that sits in south GA and into the GA/Fla line. It is home to all sorts of plants & wildlife, especially the...well, come on, you should all know me well enough by now to have figured out there will be gators in this TR.

I visited this park which sits inside the swamp, and while there are some enclosed exhibits for injured / rehabilitated animals....this is most certainly not a zoo. The animals are very wild, and very free to roam anywhere & everywhere people do!

This is NOT a place you take Junior to & let him run free. Pets are not allowed on the premises under any circumstances, for your safety. Once you arrive here, you are both a guest and an edible. So always always always mind your surroundings.

For example, here is a short video I took right after parking my car. This was the parking lot attendant sitting out several feet from where my vehicle was. (I gotta kick out of how he gave the "Move along" gesture with his front arm.) :joyfull:

More to come gator later...

Isn't there a Sasquatch in that area?
Everyone knows how to spell "it," but Canadians clearly can't spell humor ;)

Happy Thanksgiving!! Or am I a day late? In which case I hope it was amazing!
Today is “technically” Thanksgiving, but Canadians tend to celebrate on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday; whichever is most convenient.

I made French toast casserole for brunch, and they’re all on their own with leftovers for supper. While packing up the leftovers last night, I put away two complete “plates” for Mike and Ski, and then packed up all the meat, potatoes, stuffing, and gravy separately for Son #1, who won’t eat anything that resembles a vegetable.

Long story short - boys are easier. ;)
I have to say that I cannot agree with that completely. I think we worry about boys less then we worry about the well being of girls, but, since I only had two girls I have to say that I am so thankful. They tried harder to win over our love (even though it wasn't necessary, they already had it), and took clues about desired behavior easier and with less rebelling. They are emotionally closer due to their very nature and their loyalty is more then I have ever seen or even exhibited in my youth.

I remember when our last child was born, my wife apologized because I didn't have a son to carry on the name. All I could think of was how much I loved my girls and how unimportant that whole name carrying was in real life. I never understood her apology or why it was even felt to be necessary. In short, I have never regretted the absence of boys in my household. Back then even our cat was female. Talk about being outnumbered.

That tradition of the parents of the Bride paying for the weddings did get a bunch more expensive then having two sons would have been. I do regret that part.

I grew up with three brothers. I never wanted girls. Wouldn’t know what to do with them. Wouldn’t want to share Mike with them either.
