When I went to one of my high school reunions (never again!), it seemed that the majority of the "cool" girls still thought they were cooler than the rest of us peasants, and the guys who were jerks back in high school were still jerks. I sat there thinking how I didn't like those kids back in high school, so why was I wasting my time catching up with them now! social media has made it so much easier to keep in touch with people now, so maybe high school reunions will join the dinosaurs eventuallly.

Ha! I literally have zero desire to go to any school reunion. ;) I've only kept in touch with one friend from the jr. college I attended, and she's a wonderful friend. Other than her, I've completely detached.

I think I always somewhat felt that I was incarcerated in school, and I was thrilled to get out into the (full-time) work world, as soon as I could. :) (Even if you're in a job you can't stand, at least you get paid for it! :joyfull: )

Mike is still friends with everyone from high school because of his coaching. He sees the guys often and goes out for beers after games.

Me, I don't socialize with anybody from high school. I'm FB friends with a bunch of grade school and high school friends, but that's the extent of it. I was neither popular nor unpopular in high school - I just kind of marched to the beat of my own drum.

Compared to my high school friends, looks-wise, I am still somewhere in the middle of the pack. Career-wise, I've had great success with the same company for more than 28 years; but I never seem to be working lately. Our home is probably "less" than everyone else's, but our debt level is negligible. Our cars are nice, but not flashy. My marriage is the one thing I'm most proud of. I genuinely love and like my husband, and he adores me. This is offset by our kids both being bums. I've felt terrible the past two years as friend after friend has posted pictures of their kids graduating university. (You can lead a horse to water but you cannot make them drink ... no matter how big the carrot or the stick.)

If I were to attend a high school reunion 32 years after graduation, I wouldn't be centre stage, but I wouldn't be hiding out in a corner either. I would however, be the most boring, sober one there; but I'm used to that. :joyfull:

Jennifer, I'd say you're just about as close to perfect as you can be, to us here!

I know I was in high school more recently than many of you, but I keep in touch with about 4 friends from high school regularly, and a few others on and off. I really have no desire to talk to many people from high school. I was friendly with almost everyone, but there are only a few people I'd want to stop and chat with if I passed them in the grocery store.

And the friends I do keep in contact with regularly were not my best friends in high school. A few of us were just the ones who stuck around town and went to college here. Plus we were all friendly to each other when we were in high school, but then became good friends afterwards.

The news has been really tough lately. The only good thing is the outpouring of positive energy, whether by donations or volunteering, that so many people and businesses, from all across the country, have shared.

Heard today at work that MA (in addition to services, money, and volunteers already sent down to Texas), is also going to deploy DMAT MA 1 - Boston, (which is our Metro Boston Disaster Assistance Team). DMAT MA 1 also played a helpful role in Hurricane Sandy relief and Hurricane Katrina relief. They are a rapid response medical team, and the need for DMAT teams will be ongoing, as the situation down there will take quite a while to get resolved. Some other DMAT teams from across the country have also been deployed the past few days.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Oh, the thinks you can think ... sitting on the front stoop at 3:00 a.m., in the pouring rain, barely protected by the porch overhang.

All my best thinks happen here; as well as my deepest moments of regret, and my most profound moments of nostalgia.

All in all though, Eddie Rabbitt nailed it - I love a rainy night.

Coffee this morning with our friends Dianne and John.
Caramel espresso milkshake is coffee, yes?

After that, it was errand time.
Produce from Elberta Farms. Check.
Visit with our goat and chicken friends. Check.
Run into the vets for cat food. Check.
Pick up USD for tips and spending money. Check.
Beer Store. Check.
Food truck lunch. Check.
Wee nap before a top to bottom house cleaning. Working on it. But first, I need another coffee.

We only get these once or twice a year, but darn, they are so good. I almost never eat fries, but when I do, these are the ones I splurge on.
