Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

My camera has a digital zoom to it but I had turned it off because I'm trying to learn the basics of this camera first. So today I turned it back on and got a few decent results with it. As a part of Mother's Day celebrating we went over to see our favorite eaglets this morning. They were not being very cooperative, but we figured we'd stay around for a few minutes and see what might happen. As I was playing with the camera settings, I noticed Mom Eagle flying in, followed closely by a couple of crows. She had food for the eaglets but the crows were following her so closely that she only stayed a minute, then took off again. That's her in the tree and a crow at the top of the picture harassing her.

I did get a decent shot of her before she left, and a good look at her talons as she flew away.

We watched her when she flew away and saw her land in a tree across the street, so we followed her there. She was still in the tree, and Dad Eagle was sitting on a pole.

We drove past the pole to find a flock of vultures raiding a dumpster

Mom eagle swooped down and grabbed some sort of meat, while the vultures skedaddled out of her way, and she took her prize to a nearby roof, and shredded and ate it as we watched. She was so close I didn't dare disturb her with the camera, but it was pretty cool to see.

We planned to head to the beach for lunch, but traffic was pretty slow and we figured it would just be way too crowded there today, so we left in search of a suitable Mother's Day lunch. Surprisingly enough our search took us right by the road to our tower eagle, so we made a little side trip. He was still at his perch, but did pose for a few pictures.

We eventually settled for eating at Cody's Roadhouse. They had some lunch specials for Mother's Day that were too tempting to pass up. I had the bacon-wrapped Petite Filet Mignon and DH had prime rib. Both came with unlimited salad, yeast rolls, a choice of sides, and dessert for under $20 each. It was excellent, and our server was wonderful. Really made up for our lunch fiasco yesterday!
