They are close by bur usually we don't smell them unless the wind is blowing this way. They really really need rain here - I wish I had packed some from home for them!

Looks like a slight chance Saturday, but other than that, nothing really significant in the coming days. I hope the dry trend changes soon down there.

As much as we're enjoying the sunshine, I really wouldn't mind a rainy day or 2 while we're here. Of course it would cut down on the eagle watching....
Speaking of which, this was one of the eaglets this morning. Got to love it!
Then we went back to the one by the tower so I could shoot a few pictures of just how high up she is. There are eaglets in the nest, but they don't sit up high enough to get a decent picture.
We picked up sandwiches at the WaWa for lunch and ate under some pine trees at the beach. it got pretty hot here this afternoon, so we came home and went for a swim. The water in the pool was 90 degrees!

You realize, of course, that the eaglets are going to have major separation anxiety, when you and your hubs go back home up North. They're used to seeing you and enjoy posing for the camera!

I have a few minutes before we have to pick up the princess and bring her to swim lessons, so I'll post a few photos from our day so far. No major mistakes getting the kids ready today - just a little dispute about snacks. let's just say there are lessons to be learned...
Anyway, I've mentioned the pair of wild peacocks that live here, We hadn't seen him with his tail feather spread out til this morning, and what a sight it was!
He danced around and around for a while, literally shaking his rail feathers and calling for his mate, and she eventually showed up
She wasn't too impressed...
They were really a "hoot" to watch.

We decided to go back to the Ringling Museum today. You might remember the circus pictures I've posted from there, but today we skipped the circus exhibits and went right to the art museum. It's really quite impressive, but I do get a little tired of naked Baby Jesus pictures...

They have a huge somewhat eclectic collection of art work there, and I guess I was in the right mood to slow down and enjoy it all today.
There was a harpsichord...
a grand piano from the Astor's home...
and lots of beautiful statues and carvings...
I might add that I myself made a snowman out of Play Doh yesterday...

I'm back, while swim lessons is happening.
The museum building itself is gorgeous with a breathtaking courtyard...
They were repairing one of the parquet floors inside and we got a kick out of how precisely the pieces that would be removed were numbered so that they would fit precisely again when they finish:
Next up - return to the rose garden!

I posted pictures back in January of the beautiful rose gardens there,; they were in full bloom and absolutely gorgeous. (page 1597 of this thread) We figured that by now there wouldn't be much to see, and the heat and lack of rain would have pretty much done them in for the season. Boy were we wrong!
