The following is a ranter about Madden... a lot of this probably won't mean anything to you. You've been warned.
I decided to play some of my Madden franchise. I get on, advance a week to my upcoming game, but before I do that I go into my roster to check my outside linebacker lineup. While doing this, I notice my roster looks awfully thin compared to what it used to. I come to find the game decided to glitch and randomly cut 5 or so players from my roster - one of them being one of my star pass rushers, and one being a rookie pass rusher I took with a top 10 pick. Also of notable cuts was a WR who I haven't used much, but he was a big part of next season's plans as one of my guys is in the last year of his contract. I was able to get back my rookie, but the other pass rusher and WR were already signed by other teams. And it's too late in the season to try to trade to get them back. Maybe it will let me go in and take off the trade deadline. Then I can edit their ratings to make them super easy to trade for, then change their ratings back when I get them back on my roster. Otherwise I'll have to sign them in the offseason and alter their contracts to what they would have been had they still be on my roster.
I'm on my 15th season with this franchise, and I've built a great team that's put together multiple Super Bowls and records. I know it's a video game, but I enjoy this team so much. So I'm probably more angry than I should be.

I don't get the yearly sports games. Can't they just update rosters and stuff with DLC and then have actual new titles when there's enough actual new content? I didn't actually read through your post btw, just saw you mentioned Madden.
That's how most Madden games have been before. IMO they took a step down around 2012 or so, but this year's they added a lot of new features in the mode I like to play. It was well worth the money for me. But yes, in past years it has seemed like the same game with improved graphics and new rosters.
