I always say I'm from New Orleans but technically I'm from the suburbs of New Orleans on the West Bank. If you're in New Orleans and you look across the river you're looking at the West Bank.

We wanted to do a dinner cruise once on a riverboat near Jackson Square. Maybe the Natchez. But they refused to sell any more tickets, saying it was too rainy and we'd be miserable. Then a couple of women got off the boat and gave us their tickets, including dinner and drink tickets, and wouldn't accept any money for them. We had a great time.

I thought the victory sign gave it away, but I guess I should have said it was Winston.
What do I know? All these old bronze statues look alike to me.

This is a statue of AGB here in town. I can't tell you how often out-of-towners ask why we have a statue of Lincoln. For the record, I think he looks more like Charlton Heston as Moses. Post burning bush, of course.

It is. Hyatt is closer to the arena, but it was booked.
Ha! I've only ever been in one once - and not even for the night; but it felt exactly the same.

(We rented a room for Ski a couple of years ago, and had to check him in. He kindly let us come up and see what he got for our $250.)

The state of the old New Orleans World Trade Center really makes me sad. It's my favorite tower in NOLA and it's currently just being left to rot. You'd think TDO was in charge of it.

Harrah's where the old convention center was. It's a shame we lost that building.

Thanks, going to be heading there soon. Doors open at six. I've decided to just walk. It's about an 18 minute walk.

Correction, doors open at 6:30.

Thank you, I'm really excited.

Yes, it's been empty since Katrina. There were plans to renovate it, but I haven't heard anything in a while.
