I've stayed in Kidani (DVC) part of Animal Kingdom Lodge and it is nice to look at the animals. The main hotel's lobby is wicked nice. The store is huge at the main hotel, small in the DVC part. No running path for me but I run between the hotels on the little path. The bathroom's are wicked nice in the gym area (DVC pool)....it is a must see. No joking.

One thing about the pools. They get crowded fast. Only 2 pools. One for each hotel. Oh, and the DVC hotel is a never ended hallway to doom. Much like Bay Lake Tower.

Boma for breakfast is great. The pool bar is great though we just had drinks. Our bartender was from the same area as home, like 2 towns over from us.

I've stayed there a few times since it opened, years ago. I'd always choose Arusha Savannah for my view from the guest room. (Note: I see that they're charging more now for Arusha . . . unreal.) I loved watching the animals from my balcony. You mentioned the gift shop being small, but actually it's a fairly decent size, or at least is now (I stopped by there on my trip in May). They have some very nice African-themed merchandise, and it's one of the better shops on property, I think. Your comment about the pool raised my curiosity: I think what's happening there is that there are also guests from the AK DVC complex (which is large) that also come over. I think they have their own pool as well, but can use both. Regardless, that pool was the first one at WDW to have zero entry. I really liked that pool. There's also a heath club near the pool as well. The last time I stayed at AKL, was just prior to them building that DVC complex. I haven't stayed there since, as I thought it just took away from the ambiance of the area, but that's just my opinion only. i also know they converted some of the upper level floors in the lodge to DVC; I think they also still have some club rooms as well up there.

Anyway, @Cesar R M will have a great time at AKL. I truly think the main lodge's lobby is gorgeous and the theming throughout is lovely. I liked their quick service restaurant (interesting food selections for a QS, along with the traditional fare). I think it's called The Mara. As for the bus service, I found it adequate, and like you mentioned, it is a covered area in case it rains.

I'd stay at AKL again at a price @Cesar R M is getting. What we have run into is other guests of WDW waiting for dining reservations around the pool, out by the walk for the animals, in the bar, much like the Contemporary when we stay there. It was strange not to have grounds. A few paths for the animals and a walk around the pool, that I am not use to at Disney, but like I said, it is a perk to have inside access to rooms when the weather isn't nice. It really is a pretty resort but it is really far out there from the other parks. We use to use the pool after the parks closed, now the rules have changed. It was great to be a minute up to our room. That is one nice pool and the QS is so close with seating out on the pool deck, kinda.

36 degrees. Feel like temp of 27. Snow Flurries. October 4th. Pretty sure my outdoor plants will be spinach by Monday.
Thank goodness for global warming otherwise I would start to suspect that we are entering another ice age. It's supposed to be 43 degree here in NC tonight. This makes the second year in a row that we didn't even reach the 100 degree mark all summer.:cold:

Ha! Right there with ya Sir!

We only had a handful of 90 days. I can do without the 100s though.

Me too, but, it does serve as a measure of reality. I know we are in a climate change time, if we are indeed ever out of one. I've seen that happening throughout my life. The winters now are nowhere consistently brutal as they were in the 50 and early to mid 60. There was hardly a trace of snow in the south before the 80's, now they have to have all kinds of snow and ice removal equipment at the ready.

The basis of some of my doubt comes from years in Vermont. In Vermont we used literally tons and tons of salt on the roads to keep them passable and SAFE! All of a sudden we were reading an enormous number of "warnings" that using salt on the road was killing off all the foliage along the highways. That was said over and over and yet, if you were to drive down those same highways in the warmer months you would see thick grass all the way up to the edge of the highway along with healthy looking trees and shrubs. I had to ask myself what I believed... something I read or what I was seeing. I decided to go with the idea that you can believe nothing that you read and hear and only half of what you see.:)

That is the truth!

When I was small in the 60's we had some paralyzing snows. In the late 70's we had 2 years in a row with constant paralyzing snows. We had some real deep single snows throughout the next couple of decades and then then about 2 years ago we had a snow that had drifts up to my my gutters on the garage. In between we had a couple of winters that we didn't have to wear coats to church on Christmas Day and times when the leaves didn't fall from the trees until December vs October. I call it weather, it is never predictable.

I am so HAPPY for you, to see that you have a new little friend.   He looks part Lab, maybe? I thought that because the paws looked a little big, and because of his face and ears. Does Belle love him too? He moved into a loving home, and he'll have a wonderful life there.

Thanks! He is indeed a lab mix, one cute little , and Belle does love him. :) Sounds like his name is gonna' be Ranger, unless the girls change their minds before they get back from the vet. ;)

I'm headed to the Outer Banks later this afternoon, it's only going to be about 60 there tomorrow. I expect cooler weather in October, but not THAT cool...
