That could be fun, and living in Florida, that's a very close trip for you. Glad to hear you have a pal who will join you this time, too. Maybe your buddy could be in charge of transportation schedules for the both of you? ;) :joyfull:
You think I should take this opportunity to get political and pass out fliers urging Puerto Rico to vote for statehood in the next election? FYI, after the last election, where statehood won a non-binding vote, the U.S. is sponsoring a binding vote that will go to Congress this time, if statehood wins again. I want them to become a state because they deserve full rights as American citizens. Also, their economy will be better because of it because companies would treat it without prejudice like any other U.S. state. I really care about this issue and statehood for PR is not only better for them but our entire nation will be better off because of this choice! Or I could just spend my time there on the beach and in the night clubs and not get myself involved in politics over there...

So I had a bunch of your comments quoted from the past handful of pages, and just went to "insert quotes" and got a completely random quote from another thread.

Lame.

But thank you all for the kind words and thoughts. I just have to hope that when one door closes, another opens, and proceed forward. Today my "temp" job ended and... I'm pretty nervous. My rent is at least covered for next month but other than that, not so much. I've been applying like crazy and had a few interviews yesterday that I'll hear back about by the end of the week, but still. It's nerve wracking.

However, it's better than the nightmare I experienced for two and a half days. The pay was great, and now I understand why.

And thank you for the lovely comments on my art, I do really appreciate it. My show is on Sunday and I'm so not prepared, but...I now have a few full days to get things done since I don't have the temp job. Bittersweet feeling on that, I guess. I just hope the open house goes well because I really need a little luck right now.

And this one...

OK, I need to stop before I spend some money.
Plus, I haven't worn a watch in decades, anyway... :)

FINALLY, there are some fun, themed items in the gift shops! After a good 10 years of lackluster merchandise they're actually starting (slowly) to wise up and make things that the guests really want! :joyfull:

Yes, indeed you are the undisputed transportation expert, and I implore your forgiveness, sir. What you are not, however, is an expert on paying attention to said "schedules" for your modes of transportation! :p :D
Well, it's not really that. I had a feeling that would be a problem when I planned my San Jose excursion. I just cared more about getting there.

Please brief me on what's going on. What show? Sorry, I'm just now starting to follow..

This is a tough time for you now, and we're all behind you. I honestly do think you will succeed, because I believe you are a survivor, and you'll find your solution. My best tip for a job goes back to my 2001 unemployment, and that is, always think outside the box. I had to push aside my own comfort zone, and try different things. One thing I did was "crash" a job fair that was not advertising for my job skills, but for very specific medical positions. I didn't care. I put on my suit, brought my resume and went up to representatives from different medical areas and mentioned my skills. One recruiter liked me (can you believe it? :) ) and he told me to call him, as he knew of an executive looking for someone like me. Voila. They called me in and I interviewed. I was hired 3 days later, and am still there now!!! Lastly, and I know you're doing this, but a reminder to network with absolutely everyone you know, to see if they have any possible leads for you.

I know your art open house will go well! Will Daisy greet guests at the door? :joyfull:

Gracias

EDIT - I'll just then continue my campaign by "meeting" women on social networking and convincing them of this position as my friendship develops with them.

Wow, I need to get a life! lol

2nd EDIT - full disclosure... I've done that once... Just once

I don't really know enough about the PR situation to comment. Just do what you think makes the most sense.

However--
If it were my trip, I'd just enjoy a few days in a place I've never been, and maybe nicely ask my surfing friend to give me a surfing lesson. I've never surfed in my life. I tried water skiing once in Florida, and did a few face plants in the water! One time I also tried windsurfing in Florida, but I just couldn't keep my balance on the board, with the moving water underneath. :jawdrop: I think I'll stick with winter snow sports. :joyfull:

I'll probably do what I did on my California trip whenever I met someone from Australia or New Zealand... I told them that New Zealand serious needs to become an Australian state. No need for two separate countries that are right next to each other that speak the same language and share the same culture and the fact that NZ is the size of Australian states! They told me it's the same as Canada and the U.S. I said it's not the same because the U.S. and Canada are the same size. It's more like if the US state of Vermont was its own country. That would make no sense...

Any way, no fliers... Lol... I'll just talk about it with everyone I talk to there who speaks English!

Thank you!

If absolutely positively nothing else, a friend who is a manager at a fast food/coffee shop said he will bring me on, but it's really a last resort for me. It's better than nothing, for sure, but I just don't know. The hrs are very early, the pay is very little, I'll barely be able to pay my rent but at least I can pay the rent. Maybe. In the meantime I'm going to keep applying and hoping and praying something pulls through immediately. The temp job really screwed me over, the wound is too fresh to talk about right now.

I am relieved that you decided to forego the flyers, and just enjoy your vacation as a tourist. ;)

I also got a chuckle out of the chat you had with the tourists from Australia and New Zealand, and what you thought they should do with their countries. (Never a dull moment in your subject matter with unsuspecting tourists, Peter!) You're certainly not boring, that's for sure!
