When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
He's right - you should move the firepit into the living room.
Petulant?
If by petulant you mean one useless slug and one pothead, then yes.

Actually, the fire pit is propane, so it's a controlled height flame. And it's not as close to the pergola tarp as the photo suggests.

And just for the record, in case it needs repeating; I love my kids more than anything else on Earth, and I just have to trust that this is a passing phase, and that they will grow up to be the young men that God intended.

This guy. The now-86 year old former Navy Seal, who at the age of 72 appeared in the first ever Survivor season.
A take no prisoners, true to his word, speak his mind, stand up guy who somehow managed to come in third place!
Love. That. Guy.

Mini-rant ahead!!

Okay, this is the first time I'm going to say this... I hate my job. Not the actual job itself, but the hours. I told her during the interview that I didn't want to work Sunday mornings, but the person who schedules (a dumb ) put me down for not only 6am tomorrow, but 4am next Sunday!!! That's going to throw off my entire sleep schedule. The next time I see the person who interviewed me (who's actually very nice and understanding), I'm going to either tell her I don't want to work Sunday mornings, or Sundays in general. There's no way I'm going to work 4am every Sunday when I specifically said I don't want to. It also makes me wonder why they had me select what hours I was available to work when I applied online. Nowhere in there did I say I wanted to work 4 or 6am.

End of rant.

Some of Rudy's comments got on my nerves, but I didn't necessarily like or dislike him. I would've been disappointed if he would've won, though.

I think he plays in future season(s), so don't spoil if he does win or not please!
Really? I was totally rooting for him.

Of the final four, who was more deserving? Sue? Naked Rich? Kelly?
Nuh uh.

After my boy, neurosurgeon Sean (the Alphabet Killer) was voted off, Rudy moved from number two to number one on my list.

Knowing what you know about how gruelling the game is, are you not totally impressed with him?
The dude was freaking 72 years old!

And RIP to Colton Cumbie's much, much better half, Caleb Bankston, dead at 26 from a work related accident.

Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
The oak is down and now a pile of firewood. That made for a fun morning and afternoon.
Upon further assessment, though, it looks like another one will need to be taken down next weekend.
Luckily, we still have plenty of healthy ones.
Thank the Lord for chain saws...! :)

We have lost 3 out of 5 trees in two years now. This tree hugger is sad. Lost an Ash tree a few weeks ago.
Dang Emerald Ash bugs.

I am thankful for bathroom showers today. The dew point has been high the last few day. I look at that Jacuzzi tub right now and just scoff at it (till winter.)

Oof. Can't say I blame you; I wouldn't want those hours either.

after eating a fine style of indian food (norhtern style).. I took a monster NAP. just woke a few minutes ago..
had also a very weird realistic dream, where I was a U.N. type soldier, helping BUCKY (from captain america) sabotage a Nazi military base. D:
You get a "like" for NAP.
The rest is lost on me.

Maybe my nap wasn't long enough.

I'm big on strategy. I know strategy wasn't as big back then as it is now, but nobody had any game plan until Rich came in and guided the way. Arrogant? Possibly, but Rich just played the game so much better than anyone else that season. Sue and Kelly didn't deserve to win, Sean was too chicken to do anything, and I don't feel like anyone else deserved it like Rich.

The age thing is impressive, and I did feel bad when he was voted off, but ultimately Rich played a better game IMO.
