I'll give you a topic...is it possible that cats will ever live on the moon with their humans when we eventually migrate to the moon and Mars DISCUSS!

I am.
Good. Hello.I am.
Sorry, I don't know who else to call when I need tech support at 10 at night!Oh god, tech support.
So, lets start with a few basic questions.
1) What version of Windows?
2) Is the printer connected directly to the computer, or is it networked?
3) Do you control administrative rights on both the machine you are using and the printer? Or is this a shared unit with limited admin rights?
Answer that, and I'll give you some ideas.
My old 7 had bios issues, so I'm much happier with the 8 (It's 8.1 actually; I got the upgrade)8...lovely. 8 is fraught with random issues, and I personally hate it. It's Vista all over again, but worse (as it's more limited)...
Sad, since 7 was so solid.
When you go to "add a printer", do you choose to let Windows "find the printer" itself in the wizard?
Considering I locked the bios on the 95 when I was 9...yup I know just enough to be dangerous. Which is why I don't mess around with it without help. All I know if that my 7 used to get stuck and would not start and the only thing that worked to get the OS to even load was to run diagnostics on the bios. Eventually the 7 developed a processing problem (according to the cricket guy at Best Buy) and I got the 8. Start Menu 8 stopped working properly when I got 8.18.1 is worse, and I highly doubt you had bios issues with 7 (don't argue this with me, sorry, but that statement alone shows me you know just enough about computers to think you know about computers...which makes me weary...)
So, moving on...
8.1 sucks.
But, there are ways around it.
Does your network printer have a static IP?
I won't address anything you wrote, outside of to say...Considering I locked the bios on the 95 when I was 9...yup I know just enough to be dangerous. Yes, it's got an IP address.
Alright, thanks.I won't address anything you wrote, outside of to say...
Add the printer using the override.
Here's how.

Let me know if it works. It should if the printer is networked and has an IP.Alright, thanks.
Yeah, it worked. Thanks. This computer unfortunately does not like printers. Usually running diagnostics fixes the problem; it was just being stubborn.Let me know if it works. It should if the printer is networked and has an IP.
Truer words have never been spoken. Well, at least not in these forums anyway.
Of all my travels over the last few decades to find my true self - Nepal, Outer Mongolia, Inner Mongolia, Cleveland Mongolia, India, China, Japan, Fresno and Luckenbach, Texas, it was not until I came here and clicked on WITWIBS? That I was overcome with TRUE enlightenment. Truly a revelation beyond further words. There is NO WAY I could ever repay you all.

What kind of parents raise a kid that becomes a super villain? Or don't get him help when he obviously needed it?So I was watching The Incredibles tonight and was thinking in the beginning why was Buddy out after dark and roaming the city streets dressed like a little superhero sidekick? If his parents had known where he was or at least checked on him, Mr. Incredible wouldn't have been taken down that night and the following events wouldn't have happened. But then there wouldn't be an Incredibles movie and I would be sad.I wish they would make an Incredibles 2 someday. They left plenty of story lines to pick up from.
Uncle Ernie!
I thought I knew you.I must admit (sorry megalodumb) I've had shark before
