I went to the mall today, (different one from the other day) and they were completely decorated, Christmas music blaring away and the kicker to me was that they had Santa there already with kids on his knee and everything. I had to look at the calendar to double check the date. Yup, November 9th.
I spoke with one of the clerks in one of the stores at the mall and said to him...You know you are going to be damn sick of this music by the time Christmas gets here. He replied, hell, I'm sick of it already.
When I was a kid, Santa always made a grand entrance well after Thanksgiving. Big deal, parades, sometimes arriving by helicopter and, I might be remembering this wrong, it was a long time ago, but I think there was only about a 3 week window for that. The radio stations used to have a special program every afternoon for a couple of weeks before Christmas where Santa would read your letters on air and announce whether you had been good or bad that year. (It was always good).

No, Scrooge was never as mean spirited as I am. Bah Humbug!Does this mean you're trying out for the role of Scrooge?
It started in late August in a lot of places and Santa is probably out by the weekend after Halloween. This has to be a recent trend too. In the 90s i never saw any of this stuff out so early. I can handle Christmas music for a month, I can really enjoy it then. But 3 months of it just kills any enjoyment.I went to the mall today, (different one from the other day) and they were completely decorated, Christmas music blaring away and the kicker to me was that they had Santa there already with kids on his knee and everything.
