OK - a fashion question for those in the know...
We're going to a wedding in mid-September for 2 very dear friends, both widowed, so it's a second marriage for each. It's a small late-afternoon ceremony by a pond at her place followed by a reception at a local restaurant. The invitation says casual dress.
What I want to wear is a tea-length sun dress with shrug over it that's in muted shades of blues and greens. My husband thinks it's too dressy for the occasion, but I feel like I'd rather be "too dressy" than not dressy enough, if you know what I mean. My other possibility is a long skirt/ dressy blouse type thing or pants with a dressy top. Any suggestions?

I think the sundress sounds perfect. Wear it with flats and minimal jewelry and it won't be too dressy. I wear sundresses out to restaurants all the time and that's not even an occasion.

I'm sorry, englanddg. Anytime something happens to a pet, it is always hard. Hope you're doing alright.

One Little Spark...
I'm ok. If anyone is wondering, we don't know her exact age (hence the 14 - 16 range)...she was an adopted stray.

My mom and I always argue about it (I say 14, she says 16!)

In either case, obviously her time had come. And yes, it was peaceful. Sudden, but peaceful. I'm glad she was with me (she was my cat) when the time came.

I need to go to work now...this afternoon I'm taking her to the vet to try and get some answers...

Thanks - that was pretty much my plan. Simple but dressy, and since the Summer of the Boot, I only wear flats, so I think it will be fine. Now to convince DH that a shirt and tie is still appropriate (he wants to wear a Disney polo)

I have my cousin's wedding in October, and my aunt (his mom) told me she doesn't expect any guy to wear a tie. Well, that's not part of the ceremony. It's different for everyone, I suppose!
