I don't condone this baby's behavior

I was driving to respiratory therapy school. I parked in my space and sat dumbfounded. I didn't believe my ears. We didn't have class that day to say the least, I met my exhusband and daughter at home and we'll what can I say?

I was working at home, fielding calls and emails from the schools and our school board. My board left the ultimate decisions to our administrators but we were all pitching in. All our schools stayed in session. Nobody left the buildings until the planes were all grounded.

I used to volunteer in my kids' school twice/week, and actually did lunch monitor for a whole year. I was sick for 10 years straight!

Oh my. I, and DWifey, used to take off work for every award ceremony, play, parents lunch, etc. Also, all my Half-day Fridays back then were spent hoppin' between the kiddos schools. Although, luckily, They're all within' about 3 years of each other, so it was only always just two schools. I loved every SINGLE minute of those days, and the kiddos have some awesome family time memories...! :)

Yep, me too. Every Tuesday afternoon was May I Read to You. I went into a classroom and students read to us. It was so rewarding. Most loved to have someone to read too. I even caught what everyone else missed with one kids that was a struggling reader. As soon as I saw her push her face into her reader and move the book along to read sentences I knew what her issue was. I knew it from me and my two kids. After a trip to a Peds Ophthalmologist and a pair of prism eyeglasses that kid really started to excel. I was happy for her.

I was working in a city skyscraper back then. Once everyone heard about what happened in N.Y., everyone bolted out of the building. One month later, the company I worked for (hotel industry, that took a financial hit at that time) had layoffs. Two months later, they had another round of layoffs; I lost my job at that point. Was out of work for 9 months back then, before I could get another job elsewhere. Happier days were ahead after that.

Well, I must be getting back to my business law homework, even though the forums are FAR more interesting. See you all later.

What is your favorite subject so far, or is it too soon to tell? Hopefully, you'll have a nice break this weekend with no classes for the long holiday weekend.

I'm actually taking a vacation day today, so I have 4 fun days ahead of me! :joyfull: I loves me an extra-long holiday weekend!!

The upside about daycare kids is they build up so much immunity by the time school starts that on a whole they miss far less school than non daycare kids, so it usually brings healthier times ahead.

I have also seen this to be true. My friends that took time off from work until their kids went to kindergarten took a LOT of sick time that first year.

I'm pretty sure I've posted this here before.
My SIL used to be a flight attendant for American airlines. She was good friends with the pilot of flight 77 that hit the Pentagon, Charles Frank "Chic" Burlingame III, and also another flight attendant and her husband that were flying jump seats to California that fateful day. Her fellow flight attendant was in charge of our guest book at our wedding. Also, one time when the SIL was in town for a layover, she invited us out to the airport to see her for a bit. As it happened, he was the pilot. She had told him how much I loved aviation, so we were allowed on the plane and I was even allowed to sit in the pilots seat. Very nice guy, reminded me of an older cousin of mine. Had an awesome conversation with him.
Sick to our stomachs that whole day. Even more so when we heard more bad news.

My friend is a flight attendant and worked for American as well. She was grounded in California and couldn't fly back until Saturday - the day of my wedding. She had to work the flight, but was able to take car service straight from JFK airport to the reception - about an hour and a half drive. She came in wearing her flight attendant uniform and we all broke down when we saw her. My friend Kim who is very sweet and naive thought she was wearing a costume in tribute to those who were lost. We still laugh about that.
