One Little Spark...
And this trip, I will always remember this, as she sung it over and over again during our time together (especially the cruise!)

One Little Spark...
She caught me crying tonight...waking up from her slumber.

And she asked why.

I didn't answer...and she didn't ask and fell back to sleep.

As Dr. Seuss once said, "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." And then you can look forward to next time. Maybe try planning a short trip with her somewhere if you can.

Though, really, I feel like this every time I try and "socialize" with "adults"...

Laundry is done, I'm going to pack up, and lament the fact that I will miss the kid...

I'll be around. Thanks for listening...

One more year, where I am Daddy by proxy, and one more year where I hope she stays who she is...as I am very proud of who I raised...(not that I'll ever tell her...she is going to Explorer scouts next!)

Oh, dear. This thread is becoming depressing!

Time to discuss State Flowers. Florida's is, of course, the orange blossom. It's on the generic license plates, like all the rental cars have. I like it. We are a state of oranges and it's cute. Very apropos, IMO. But the very perky coreopsis is the state's wild flower. It's supposed to be a plucky little plant - easy to grow and requires little maintenance, so I'm going to plant some out back. :)

Englanddg (which I always read as, "England dog", btw), I'm sorry your precious vacation time is drawing to a close. With any luck, you'll be able to work in a visit before next year's vacation. I hope so, anyway. But, much like the baby shampoo, you need no more tears. Gotta find the bright side (whatever it may be) and concentrate on that! That's an order, private!!

Now, what is your state flower and how do you feel about that?

A year from now...most likely. Though, I am considering a trip to Colorado. Now that she is over her fear of water, maybe I can work on her skiing!
Colorado in the summer isn't quite the same. How about Hollywood? Universal(the REAL Universal where stuff is actually filmed...)and the other studios should be interesting for her now.

Maryland's is the black-eyed Susan. I have no idea why I knew that off the top of my head. It's fine, I guess; our yard is too shady for us to have them

I didn't know Wisconsin's state flower, so I had to look it up. Turns out it's the viola sororia, better known as the common blue violet. Let's just say I've seen better flowers.

Our state tree is the maple tree, though. Sugar maple to be exact. Actually, acer saccharum to be technical.

And then of course our state animal is the badger.

I had no idea what NJ's was either.

Apparently our state flower is the Viola sororia.

Our state bird is the American Goldfinch.

State tree is the Quercus rubra

And our state animal is the Snooki.
