Thank you @Gabe1!
Actually, my friend and I are talking about finding a place to rent off-campus with a couple more people if they'd be on board after this school year.
No problem!Welcome and Mea culpa. You and I have had so many open conversations in this thraed from the fast food place burning, my family trips to see our football teams training up there, discussing hotels etc and university tornado's photo's I didn't realize it was a private thing on the sight. Anyhow It's gone. Sorry.
That be great if you guys could swing an apartment. I've said it before I'm a great believer in students living away from Mom and Dad. It is not only a right of passage but a growth process and a learning experience as much as classes at college. Hope it works out.
Just realized I forgot to update you all on my grandma!
She got home about the middle of last week. I don't think they really figured anything out. Kind of seemed like a waste when she could have been in a hospital and had better service. In the place she was in she wasn't even able to have a TV or radio in her room.
For @Gabe1, and anyone else interested, here's a coupla' pics of Tracy Van Duinen (on the ladder) and the beginnings of the mosaic at oldest DD's new school. I, unfortunately, realized too late that I neglected to get a pic of myself with him and one of the progress when we left. I'll get DD to take some. She starts work tomorrow, and the school opens on the 11th...

They were a "hospital", but they really didn't do anything. They pretty much just let her roam around on her own, within a certain area. She couldn't leave the building or go to certain parts of it. It was pretty much a place where people go temporarily to be monitored. They couldn't have glass picture frames in their rooms because some people it could be a hazard to.I missed where they had her but I'd have to agree. No TV, no radio sounds like a penitentiary.
How is she feeling?
No problem!
We haven't talked a great deal about it, but we've said we hope to get us and two other friends in on an apartment/rental house. Obviously the pickings are slim right now, but we want to get something for 4 people where our rent would be around $200 a month per person. Obviously it's not going to be a luxury place, but just something that will do. I already have a bunch of stuff ready for when I move out as my mom has saved old furniture and relatives' old furniture for my brother and I when we move out. Then she also gets us household things for Christmas each year like glasses, bowls, etc.
Cool! How did you do the trunk? It really adds that 3D sense.
I'm actually excited for the preseason game tonight when the Packers aren't even playing.![]()
We have a few new dorms here (all of which were damaged by the tornado), but they're so expensive. The old dorms are probably 1/2 or 3/4 the size of my current bedroom. Plus in the dorms you're forced to buy a meal plan in which each meal averages out to be around $9, when in reality I would hardly ever eat a $9 meal if living on my own. I'm going to assume that frozen pizza is going to be my go-to food. Most of college apartments/rental houses are...not so nice. My DS first was brand new, the exception. His second place I walked into the place the day we moved him in and said No No No No. But it was too late. I cringed everytime I walked into that h*ll hole. Last place was perfectly fine. While he was at Disney I was rather surprised at what Disney had them living in considering what they charged them a week. The second housing he lived in for his CP was much better. He preferred the first as it was 'lively' to say the least.
My DD stayed in a dorm all 4 years. It was elegant, A/C, carpeting. Fine woodworking spiral wood carved staircases, parlors with fireplaces that were nearly 100 years old and pillars outside and french window doors. It was also a designated quiet dorm (though not always.) She had no desire to leave but had her own room that was at least as large as her bedroom at home. Fit a bed, nightstand, dresser, chair with ottoman, end table, a shelving unit, refrigerator & micro and Keurig. No motivation for an apartment that would not have been as well maintained.
My DS dorm room at Carthage in Wisconsin though was about equal to my closet. Ugly, tiny and generic. Would have fit the military more than college. Weird thing too was it had a sink, just a plain old pedestal. sink. Strange dorm.
I have HBO and my gf doesn't. So she is going to take over my living room and make me watch True Blood instead.I'm actually excited for the preseason game tonight when the Packers aren't even playing.![]()
She better not have done this during Sharknado.I have HBO and my gf doesn't. So she is going to take over my living room and make me watch True Blood instead.![]()
My freshman dorm was a room shared by 3 people and each room had its own bathroom in this brand new building that kind of resembled a hotel. Then I transferred to Rutgers. First was okay. It was supposed to have a/c but they never switched it on in the spring and it was built during the 70s so nothing was fancy except the rehabbed ground floor. Then was the dorm apartment with the bathroom that would not get clean no matter what, then in the second semester someone moved out and was replaced with some random that smoked pot in there so there was always ash everywhere. He made a mess in the common room and kitchen. So even after he was kicked out that place was just never the same cleanliness-wise.Most of college apartments/rental houses are...not so nice. She wasn't here for that thankfully. Or else... actually she probably would have watched it, but then I probably wouldn't have been able to live chat about it here. And @JenniferS would have been really disappointed if we didn't live chat the movie in this thraed. She better not have done this during Sharknado.

Then I went off campus. Brand new building 2 blocks from the College Ave campus and everyone in our apartment had their own bedroom. I still miss that apartment.
