This was me last night. Fell asleep around 11:30 and woke up to a thunder storm at 4. Ran around and closed all the windows and laid back down and listened to hubby toss and turn and loudly sigh for around an hour and a half. Fell back asleep when he go up for work and my daughter woke me up to tell me she was going to go downstairs to use the bathroom since hubby was upstairs. Fell back asleep and my daughter woke me up to ask of she can lay in my bed. Fell back asleep and now my alarm went off. And here I am. I'm going to be a joy to be around today!!

Oh Boy! Hate that. I went to sleep just after midnight and was startled awake until after 3am. DH was having a restless and snore filled night. His alarm started going off at 445am and mine at 645am.

I really like Julie Andrews a woman that has remained classy throughout her career. And now the flip side we have Aretha Franklin bad mouthing Johnny Rockets for ordering take out and then wanting a table after she picks up her TAKE OUT food. Calling management rude for treating her badly for not caving in and allowing take out customers to take a table designated for table service customers. Oy celebrates.

Did yard work almost all day yesterday. And deck work, including finally dismantling our 13 year old massive grill that has not weathered the past decade plus so well. My daughter really enjoyed seeing the crumbling metal.

I have actually banned it for this week in our house. Since the DVD came out, it is on roughly every 3-4 days here. Since I'll be out of the house 9am-9pm starting next week (band camp), they can watch it all they want then!

Last night was finally my first normal night (maybe it was the scotch!!) since Hawai'i. Got to sleep at 11pm and woke up at 5:30am. Well, except for the hour awake around midnight during our thunderstorm. Didn't need to close any windows, but did need to come to the rescue of a screaming 10 year old. FYI - when lightning strikes a tree in your back yard, the thunder is quite loud (and, having just seen it, the tree is down a large branch and some pretty interesting scorch marks).

My DH wants a new BBQ. I love ours, it is roughly 25 years old. I BBQ, he does not.

My DD watched Barney and DS Turtles like many watch Frozen over and over. I've had about 17 years of freedom from that compulsive behavior of watching the same thing over and over again. Blessed. ;)

Poor Tree (I'm a self proclaimed Tree Hugger) She'll want more water. Often it fries some of the areas that use to bring water up when they are scorched. Watch her carefully, she might need some nursing. Poor kid too, hate storms like that. We just had power outages yesterday with full sunshine.

P.S. - I really miss my boys being young enough to want to crawl into bed with me.

Enjoy it. You're going to miss those days.

My kids were never allowed in our bed. One exception, a storm like @brifraz described. A boom so loud that 2 kids came running at once along with 2 golden retrievers, 6 of us in our bed.

When they were scared or ill I'd take them back to their room if they woke me up and stay with them until they fell back asleep and then I returned to my own room. The only exception was when my DH took my DS out of town and then DD and I had girls weekends. They knew they could come get me if necessary but they never wanted to get in because it was never offered. Waking the Mom ma for stupid stuff...well they knew better.

I was taught and expected to do laundry by age 12. It was on our chore list. :)

I don't know how it a happened, maybe because my kids were never home but nobody but me did laundry. My DD would automatically pitch in as she got older folding. DS would disappear. DH is a bit of a Raymond with these type of tasks, hoping not to have to participate again. Kinda rubbed off on DS.

Not to worry. Word has it he dove into the water and somehow came up with a pair of shoes

So far, no one has noticed. But the local cats are waiting patiently nearby.

Hahaaa!
There are our fish flops, again...! :)

All she's asking for is a little respect, just a little bit.....
