My street has been undergoing some utility work all week that has caused the road to be covered in 6 inches of dirt. My car has been so thoroughly covered in the dirt, it looks like it is a different color. So I got excited when my neighbor texted me saying they are finally cleaning the street today and got my car washed. Come home and see they didn't remove it all, there is still a fine layer of dust on the road... So that was a waste of my lunch break then.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

Your neighbour owes you a car wash!

So your neighbor doesn't like you very much?

Oy. In September of 2001 they ripped our streets totally out. We had deep ditches and no sidewalks. They were putting in new sanitary sewers and also adding curbs, gutters parkways and sidewalks. In the center of the road they dug at least 12 feet to bury the new water mains. It was a good month that we had to park 2 blocks from home. I was annoyed that they waited until the end of August to start vs April or May as this messed up our districts busing schedules. Our houses were all covered in mud along with everything else outside. It was so loud 12 hours a day.

And then there was the morning of 9/11. It went quiet for the morning, plenty of dirty dust blowing but no work being done. I put out a folding chair and put out a portable analog TV. The workers over the next few days would sit on my lawn or stand for a few and get themselves updated. I will always always remember when our new street was built and dusty dirty construction street grim tends to bring 9/11 back to me.

Yep, the whole silly premise of that show, to me anyway, was and still is, sheer genius.
What a hoot! :)

Oh, and let's not forget the ULTIMATE: the crossover character episodes! Do you recall how sometimes characters would "visit" and guest star in each other's shows?! Too funny!! :joyfull:

Hooterville was the background setting for both Green Acres and Petticoat Junction. Uncle Joe Carson, Floyd Smoot, Mr. Haney, Betty Jo and Bobbie Jo Bradley, Oliver & Lisa Douglas, and Sam Drucker, etc., crossed over between the shows. Actually, I think there were even a few crossover episodes from Granny of the Beverly Hillbillies, if I'm not mistaken.

Possum Day, I Didn't Raise my Pig to be a Soldier, The Woodchucks, and other "cultural" episodes all contributed to the erosion of my brain! :hilarious: But, I wouldn't change one moment of it! (And, as silly as all these shows were, they're leaps and bounds ahead of the reality show crap that's on tv now!! )
