Nothing like waiting out a rain delay at a ballgame...
I'll roast a marshmallow for you.As for the 4th, we don't really have any plans. DH is supposed to run in a 5K in the morning, but he said if it rains, he's not going. Guess we can't barbeque either with the rain. I'd say that the 4th here is beginning to look like a wash-out.
But I hope that the rest of you have a wonderful holiday!![]()

Boston rescheduled the Boston Pops concert and fireworks on the Esplanade, from the 4th to tonight, because of Hurricane Arthur bringing a lot of rain tomorrow. It's odd having it on the 3rd, but a smart decision. If they postponed until Saturday, some of the headliners would not have been able to perform. (Joey MacIntyre, and cast of Phantom of the Opera were unavailable to perform tonight, though--only the 4th was possible). The good thing is that the Beach Boys will be performing this evening. (I'll just watch the concert on tv tonight. I have no desire to deal with crowds after working today.) Nemo, I don't know if you get WBZ Boston on your cable/satellite in RI, but it's on at 8 p.m.
The preparations for the concert today provided some good diversion around midday. A bunch of us watched the Army drive down Storrow Drive with their howitzers attached to the back of their trucks. (They set those up for the 1812 Overture and set them off during a section of the corresponding music--those puppies are LOUD! BOOM!! Happy 4th!
I don't know how many boxes we got, but it was a lot. Luckily we have one of those rolling tracks, so it's just kind of like a conveyor belt of boxes going down, with spots on each side for products to go to.Oh boy, the memory of shipment days past at The Disney Store!!!!!![]()
We used to get, generally, between 200-400 boxes in one shipment every week, and as many as 800 during the Holidays and sometimes more than one shipment a week. Our back room was completely insane for the first few hours while we organized the boxes and then processed and stored all the product.![]()

Love the Back-to School stuff that's out already. School's just got out here about 2 weeks ago.I don't know how many boxes we got, but it was a lot. Also, I noticed about 4 or 5 school displays out now.
Ours was just under 3 weeks ago. The first thing a student wants to see when he or she walks into a store is a bunch of school supplies!Love the Back-to School stuff that's out already. School's just got out here about 2 weeks ago.

Sorry all the 4th celebration plans up there are kinda' messed up 'cause of the weather. Hope y'all enjoy the weekend, anyway.
The only time I've ever seen the Beach Boys (only Mike Love and Bruce Johnston) was a few summers ago when we worked security for my friend that used to be a co-owner of the only Carlos' N Charlie's in the US here on Lake Travis. They closed it last summer because the lake was too low from the drought (they used to have tons of boat traffic).
Anyway, we got to meet both of those guys and that was pretty cool.
I heard some roaring motors at one point today coming from outside at the office. As it became louder, I pulled my window shades higher and when I looked up there it was...a B-17G Flying Fortress from WWII! So cool! It was in town from the Texas-based Commemorative Air Force to give a WWII vet a ride.

I think the parents are the only ones who like to see them. It reminds them their kids will be occupied in a short while.fixed!
So most of the fireworks that were supposed to go on tonight were postponed due to the possible problems with Hurricane Arthur. We're supposed to get rain and wind tomorrow. so most fireworks are postponed til Saturday or Sunday. Oh yay!
Ours were moved to Saturday too. Good thing I didn't buy ice for the cooler yet.
Summer is all downhill after this weekend. The stores just want you to remember that.I don't know how many boxes we got, but it was a lot. Luckily we have one of those rolling tracks, so it's just kind of like a conveyor belt of boxes going down, with spots on each side for products to go to.

You checked off 59 out of 100 on the 'MURICA list!
- You’re pretty ‘Murican. You’re all about the red, white, and blue, and freedom is one of your favorite things in the world. But there is always room for more patriotism, so how about having an EXTRA beer or two this Fourth of July (within reason, of course!)

I love how Ron Swanson is the person in this picture. #Murica
