Meg has been at it again!
Everyone says how weirdly words are pronounced in French, and then you look at German. Sounds like it would be difficult to learn, though.
We found that most Germans speak English, so all my worrying about learning the language was for naught. But it was interesting trying to learn it.
Not really. There are only about 700 basic words. Everything else is a compound word.
I guess that's true. The pronunciation seems terribly difficult, though.
It's always interesting listening to people speak other languages that you don't. It's shocking when you find out someone speaks another language. Back in high school, we were on our way back from a field trip to Chicago, and this girl started talking on her phone to her grandparents. She was fluent in Polish! Now I wasn't really her friend (didn't have anything against her), but still.
One of my friends also spoke a foreign language. Not sure what it was, but it was something they speak in Ghana (his parents are from there). Found out in French class that the word for "elk" is the same in both French and his language.
The word for elk in French is "wapiti" in case you were wondering.
