Wow, got any saucy backstage story?
BS as in fights or managers forcing employees to do stupid things in a power trip?

Oh, I could tell a few "sauce" stories, although, none directly involving me. Mostly, just general carp that goes on in retail everywhere, but, with definite "Disney" twists.
I got along well with my fellow CMs, so, by far and away, most of the BS I'm talkin' about involved Home Base/Corporate. Things like SOPs changin' so often our heads would be spinning. Just some friggin' middle mamagement types tryin' to make it look like they do more than just sit at their desks all day and needlessly bloat the Company budget. Stuff like that.

Unfortunately that happens at a lot of places.

The thing that kept me from really wanting to attempt to learn stick is all the highway and traffic driving you do around here.

I know I already replied, but, just to follow up...
The very first vehicle I learned to drive was a '63 International Harvester pickup, down on the farm, with a 3-speed manual tranny, and shifter on the steering column, when I was 13. Commonly referred to as "Three on the tree".
Once you learn, it's like ridin' a bike...you never forget. It has come in handy many times over the years. :)

Several years ago when my son was in the college program his roommate was assigned to an ice cream cart in FW of Epcot. He was being trained by an Elderly man that was a bit gruff an didn't like CPs. The older CM offered him and ice cream bar when he was going on break. Then proceded to turn him in for stealing. He got hauled into the supervisors office and they would not let him explain. Yes or no just like being on a witness stand. Did you take an ice cream bar and eat it without paying. Yes, but..... No Did you or didn't you, no buts. Yes.

He was sent home. He had to be out of his apartment by 12 noon the next day and off Disney Property.

I gave this a "like" because it was a very interesting story you shared, although it was a very sad one. As odd as this may sound, I think the man who was asked to leave was probably better off. By that, I mean that if he worked for people that didn't even give him a chance to explain, then he deserves the opportunity to move on to another employer, who provides fair and decent working conditions.

Wow. What a pile that ol' bas**** was. Pretty sick, actually.
Pretty much the opposite at our Store. Our Manager was a sweet person, but, a complete and total oblivious pixie dust snortin' lightweight when it came right down to it.
When I was a lead, I was fair and just, but we had some people there that shouldn't be there. They would pretty much show up and go, barely, through the paces just to collect a paycheck. Most of those types applied 'cause they thought it would be sooo cooooooolll to work at TDS, but, when they found out they'd actually have to work, they couldn't handle it. Very few in comparison to those of us who ended up stayin' for quite some time, but there were plenty that came and went. Most WAY later than most managers would have told 'em to take the friggin' train. Again, I never held a grudge, but kept track of things that I was instructed to that were easily trackable and verifyable. Also though, I many times let things go from those that I knew just had a rough day or bad luck and, knowing from past experience, weren't tryin' to jerk my chain. It's a balance, and people like the ol' that got your sons friend canned, just because he could, make me wanna' throw up in their face.

today is a good one

This afternoon, I went out to a restaurant for lunch. For dessert, my selection didn't have raspberries, but it was a warmed up, delicious, rhubarb/strawberry crisp with vanilla ice cream on top. :hungry: I like raspberries, but rhubarb is quite tasty and is a nice accompaniment to other berries as well. I won't say that rhubarb goes with everything, but it is more versatile than people realize.

(I seem to recall that there's a number of rhubarb fans on this thread . . .)
