Yeah, pretty much. It's about 3 hours away from me. I've been through DC on road trips, but it's just not something my parents have ever taken me to do. A lot of Sundays are spent at Orioles games and then Ravens games, so free weekends just don't happen. That, and we spend about 6 weeks on vacation each year, so we don't do a ton of day trips. One of these days. I think my school does trips down there periodically, so I'll have to look into it.

Oh, and I've flown out of Dulles. Nice airport. Too bad it's too far out for anyone to use it...

3 hours??? really? It's only 7 from here - 6 1/2 if we don't hit a lot of traffic.

Sorry, I just can't imagine not finding time to go at least once - it's such an amazing place, all politics aside.

so not having actually watch sharknado... does the movie ever involve a trailer park? I mean don't tornados and trailer parks go hand in hand.

That's my favorite actually. I could easily spend all day there. I've got plenty of time to figure this all out before they get here though. I just wanted to give her a few options.

We've been 4 or 5 times with various family members and once just the 2 of us. I planned and chaperoned a school trip there a few years back that was awesome. Great times!

Went to Best Buy today and I think I know which one I want. I've completely ruled out anything but a 15.6" screen. The other ones just seem either too small or too big. Plus the one I'm looking at is lighter than my current one, and has the CD drive I'm looking for.

Yay - sounds like you're making progress!

I agree - a 17.3 is a huge screen for a laptop. It's weird that they don't have yours on the website. Is it discontinued possibly?

You might want to google that model number to see, but to be honest, that wouldn't stop me from buying it if it was what I wanted.

You should google the model number anyhow if you liked it...you never know when new egg or tigerdirect or some other vendor is having a mega sale...

I can't find any reviews about this laptop. It's an HP Pavilion G6 2342dx. I don't know if I want to buy it without seeing the reviews first.

And any of you have an opinion on Intel or AMD?

Intel or AMD, effectively doesn't matter. There is no major noticeable difference unless you are into overclocking or hardcore use.

More important is the speed (ghz) and number of cores.
